The cholesterol-lowering drugs are taken by seven million people in the UK, costing the NHS £450million a year.
Last week, it was the effects of eating egg yolks on blood vessels. Historically, we have had coffee is good/bad, oranges cause /help, statins are harmful/beneficial, get out/get in the sun, use/don't use high factor sun cream, the list is endless and the "advice" varies depending upon whether there is an "R" in the month or from where the "advice" originates. These "experts" with there never ending, costly and time consuming "research" really aught to find something more productive to spend their time on. Perhaps counting the pebbles on Brighton beach to a depth of 5 feet, (I do not do metric), may be a useful project
It seems to me that the cost to the NHS of £450 million per year may be a factor in the findings of the "new research". How convenient it is that most of the recent "research" points towards how savings could result from the findings.
