Forecasters have confirmed what many suspected: summer 2012 in England and Wales has been the biggest washout for a century.
Let us hope that this is the right type of rain to enable us to avoid the water companies imposing a hosepipe ban next year. However, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that we will be presented with the water companies spokesperson saying that "water prices will have to go up due to the additional demands on our resources during the heavy rain in 21012".
