Good morning everyone.

It seems that Sky News has been given the tip off by their masters in Conservative central Office that a general election will be called soon and consequently, they should now start their attacks on the Labour party generally and particularly on Jeremy Corbyn. Yesterday the station missed no opportunity to pour out the usual smear and distortions against Labour, starting with Stephen Dixon during their breakfast show and continuing at every news item and link right through the day, to Christina Patterson on the Sky Newspaper preview in late evening shown
The BBC is bad enough, but when it comes to constant hysterical spite and venom, Sky News has no equal.

Big Ben, (the great bell of the clock of course) has fallen silent for the next 4 years as "essential repairs" are carried out on Elizabeth Tower. It seems certain that there will be some exceptions to the rule of silence, as there has been some controversey led by Theresa May herself, who said, "It cannot be rightfor the bells not to chime regularly for four years", and a handful of MPs gathered at the Houses of Parliament to mark the occasion of the bell’s final chimes.

Labour MP Stephen Pound wiping a tear from his eye. “Bong-o gone-o, that’s so wrong-o,” As the final bell rang, Pound called the sound “misery in the key of E”. Well, MP's are on holiday and it is the "silly season".

Now that it is all over, we must be thankful that we shall be spared the ridiculous spectacle of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor squaring up to each other, (almost) nose to knows and growling the usual pre fight insults and provocations in the hysterical hype leading up to the "big night". It has been particularly bad on television (Sky News again) with endless repeated clips and comments thrown in by the usual punits. I am sure that the combatants in this and all the other fights know how ridiculous they act and appear, and that the antics are purely for effect and hype, but do the rest of us have to have this childish stupidity thrown at us on every news programme?

Meanwhile, back in Jersey, Condor have again managed to upset a number of travelers to and from the island, with their latest ferry cancelations. This time it is the conventional ferry Condor Clipper which is to be taken out of service earlier than scheduled, "due to unforeseen additional maintenance work".
Speaking to some friends who are coming over to the mainland in early September and have had their original travel plans disrupted, it was clearly apparent what they, and many other islanders think of Condor. The Clipper, which carries freight and passengers, will be out of service for four weeks from 7 September due to maintenance work. The Goodwill will then enter dry dock for repair work for three weeks.

Sunny periods, warm and humid. The fans in our house will be in use soon it is forecast. Still at least we have not had a visit from Hurricane Harvey...yet.

And finally, A big thanks for the retweets follows shares comments likes on Facebook Twitter New Agenda and New Agenda on Sunday. I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

Have a nice week

Enough of this hysterical nonsense

http://style.uk.msn.com/royal-baby/how-will-the-royal-baby-look-as-he-grows-up Media generated hysteria.                           This is too much. For the last 36 hours (thought it seems more like 36 days) there has been wall to wall news coverage, media and television comment and reporting, with Sky News taking first prize for frenzied minute by minute reporting from the Palace, the hospital, from a village somewhere in England, from the studio and anywhere else that Burley, Botting and company could stick a microphone into some obscure "celebrity's" face and ask for yet another banal quote. All this galvanising the mass hysteria of some elements of the public, (who the media would have you believe is the reaction of "the whole world",) with their flag waving, dancing, singing and cheering over what is after all, no more than a woman having a bab...

New Agenda on Sunday is out Sunday, Apr. 28, 2019

https://paper.li/f-1346065353#/ Good morning everyone. Last weeks scare regarding Megan and Harry being sent to live "somewhere in Africa" seems to have been dispelled, at least for the time being. It now seems that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take up residence in California.  Unless  they are actually  doing  some proper work in "The Golden State", I hope that they are taken off the civil list so that we do not have to fund their life choice. The nauseating Daily Mail is at it again. A headline this week, which I will not even bother to reproduce here, screams out in disgusting and repulsive bias without any acknowledgement to the factual basis of their "story". Spewing out their usual smears and embellished distortions about Hamas, the IRA, Hezbollah and the rest, the Mail condemns itself with ample justification, for the closure of a "newspaper," which again abuses 10 fold, the privilege of "freedom of t...

Northern Ireland and Brexit. The return of "The Troubles"

Northern Ireland: police attacked in another night of disturbances | Northern Ireland | The Guardian When the "Brexit" debate was still filling our newspapers and our television screens, readers may remember why I had changed my mind since voting to leave at the referendum vote. Apart from the economic arguments, which had become crystal clear after peeling away all the lies and misrepresentations trotted out by Bozo Boris and his "Get Brexit Done" conspirators, there was always the problem of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Would it be possible to have a border between the European Union and the United Kingdom where people, goods and services could pass freely between the two nations without customs restrictions, tariffs, duties and all the other formalities? Would it be possible to have one part of the United Kingdom treated differently from other parts of the United Kingdom, particularly when Scotland for example had voted overwhe...
