1,640,000 people are going hungry because they cannot afford to "heat and eat"

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/four-10-social-housing-tenants-9107639 Four in 10 social housing tenants forced to skip meals because they can't afford to eat Four in 10 social housing tenants forced to skip meals The 21st Century, in the United Kingdom. Today in Theresa May's conservative controlled Great Britain, four in 10 social housing tenants are forced to skip meals because they can't afford to eat. The most recent figures reveal that around 4.1 million people live in "social housing" in this country, which means that more than 1,640,000 people men, women and children are going hungry because they cannot afford to "heat and eat" especially during the winter months, due to lack of finance. This situation has resulted in the huge rise in the number of people becoming reliant on Food-banks and other charities a number of people which now exceeds one million. This situation is particularly difficult for those in our society w...

Austerity is a myth says Cameron's former Chief of staff.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/sep/02/nick-clegg-george-osborne-cut-welfare-poorest-boost-tory-popularity Austerity is a myth says Alex Deane. Alex Deane. Meet Alex Dean, a British writer, political commentator and consultant. He served as Chief of Staff to David Cameron and Tim Collins during their respective periods as Shadow Secretary of State for Education . Alex Deane is another of these newspaper "previewers", so favoured by Sky Television News, because presumably they agree with the Sky News version of truth and news. Thus so it was that last night (2nd September) Alex Deane found himself on the sofa of the Sky studio previewing the (following) morning papers. The front page of the Guardian provided the highlight of the programme with its story under the headline "Clegg: Osborne casually cut welfare for poorest to boost Tory popularity". As Cameron's former Chief of Staff, and clearly not an admirer of Nick Clegg,...

Food banks are a growing industry in the United Kingdom

http://www.itv.com/news/wales/2016-05-23/this-food-bank-is-now-giving-out-emergency-credit-to-help-people-with-their-fuel-bills/ This food bank is now giving out emergency credit to help people with their fuel bills users can now also receive emergency credit for energy costs The only thing that seems to be growing in the Cameron/Osborne United Kingdom, is the increasing necessity for Food Banks. It is a criminal outrage that in this country, in the 21st Century, over 1 million people are reliant on these charities to feed their families. Austerity is not an economic necessity. It is a political choice.  Cameron and his wretched fragmented government will pay the price for their betrayal of ordinary people in favour of the rich.

The hypocrisy of Iain Duncan-Smith

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/mar/18/iain-duncan-smith-resigns-from-cabinet-over-disability-cuts Iain Duncan-Smith  has resigned as work and pensions secretary over cuts Duncan-Smith resigns.  Iain Duncan Smith said that "he was stepping down because Osborne’s cuts were for self-imposed political reasons rather than in the national economic interest". He also said that “I am unable to watch passively while certain policies are enacted in order to meet the fiscal self-imposed restraints that I believe are more and more perceived as distinctly political rather than in the national economic interest,”. In other words, Duncan-Smith has come to the view that austerity i s not an economic necessity. Austerity is a political choice. It is strange indeed that the man who has over the past eight years, imposed cuts of over £30 billion on welfare spending, condemning thousands of people in this country to hardship and misery and even driving some to suicide. ...

Getting away with murder as the sniping against the leadership continues.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jan/06/shadow-rail-minister-jonathan-reynolds-resigns-labour-reshuffle   Three junior shadow ministers have resigned in protest at Jeremy Corbyn’s reshuffle Kevan Jones, Jonathan Reynolds and Stephen Doughty This Conservative government is literally getting away with murder. In the meantime of course, there are certain people within the Parliamentary Labour Party, motivated by their own personal agenda's and encouraged by the television and media (who also have their own but different agenda's), who are actively and enthusiastically engaged in a war against the democratically elected leadership of the party. They spew vitriol and derision against any who criticise them while at the same time accusing all who do not share their views, of spreading division within the party and engaging in “civil warfare”.They seek a renaissance of a quasi Blair philosophy, wrapping diluted conservative policies in a veneer of ...

An essential aspect of society that is far too important to be left to private companies.

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/oct/31/half-care-homes-could-close-cash-crisis#comment-62501740 " Cash crisis ‘could close 50% of UK care homes’ "The measure of a nation is how it treats its weakest members." The provision of care for the elderly in this country, has for far too long been in the hands of private companies, where, which ever measure you may use, profit for shareholders is the prime driver. Where government funding is available to these companies to supplement the charges made to residents, then the facility will continue to provide the service. However, when government subsidies are cut of even removed,  then the standard of service and even the services themselves will be lowered or removed in order to maintain the "profit margins". Some private care providers try to give a first class service in what are extremely difficult conditions, but recent events have shown us that too many providers have allowed poor care and...

In Iceland the guilty are sent to prison. In the UK the innocent are punished with Austerity.

http://usuncut.com/world/iceland-sentences-26-bankers-to-a-combined-74-years-in-prison/  Iceland sentences 26 bankers to a combined 74 years in prison     Good and reassuring news from Iceland. At least there is one country that has the backbone to defy the vested interests of some political factions and prosecute those responsible for the financial crisis rather than persecute ordinary people with pernicious cuts, reductions in living standards and crippling austerity. We could have a similar scenario here if the politicians were not in the pockets of bankers and financiers. The British people are paying the price for the "financial crisis", while the bankers continue to enjoy the huge salaries bonuses and the lifestyles that they have become used to. The banking world in the United Kingdom,  is "protected" from the consequences of its own action by politicians with their own agenda. Austerity is not an economic necessity. Austerity is a poli...

A cut in Working Tax Credit, could be bad news for some Conservative MP's.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/oct/17/tory-mps-at-risk-tax-credits Tory MPs in 71 marginal seats at risk from cuts to tax credits Always see the funny side Working Tax Credits are a subsidy paid by the tax payer for business to pay low wages. The government bleat that the cost of this "benefit" has increased substantially over recent years and has to be cut. The only way to reduce the level of these tax credits, is to force employers to pay wages and salaries which are adequate to meet today's living costs. The "minimum wage" or "living wage" call it what you will, is a government confidence trick designed to indicate that the g overnment is "doing something" to assist lower paid workers where in fact it does nothing of the sort. In April of next year, hundreds of thousands of families in this country will be up to £3000 per year worse off due exclusively to a combination of government fiscal policies...

‘You’re about to cut tax credits after promising you wouldn’t’

http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/oct/16/david-cameron-spokesman-respond-question-time-tax-credits-complaint  Cameron responds to Question Time tax credits complaint    Michelle Dorrell: ‘You’re about to cut tax credits after promising you wouldn’t’   Only 24 people out of every 100 people who voted at the last general election, gave this lying hypocrite an overall majority in the House of Commons. The baying, howling Tories on the government benches, snarl that they have a "mandate from the British people" to carry out their pernicious "reforms" and to inflict even more austerity on this country, in order to "balance the books". They lie and cheat while filling themselves with the perks of position and office. They laug h at the housing crisis, they reject moves to ensure that rented homes in the private sector are fit for habitation, because to repair them would be "a huge burden on landlords”, they cut welfare and res...

Former Bullingdon Club member uncovers another threat to national security

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/aug/31/jeremy-corbyn-poses-national-security-threat-george-osborne Jeremy Corbyn poses national security threat, says George Osborne       Gideon Oliver Osborne (changed his name to George when he was 13) Gideon is an idiot. There are hundreds of thousands (if not more) people in this country who are opposed to the renewal of Trident. Are we all a "national security threat"?  If we are, we should all be arrested under the "Anti terrorism" acts and held in prison (usually without charge or trial) to protect the public. The flaw in this of course, is that Gideon and his wretched colleagues in this government (and the one preceding this lot), are careering along the "austerity" road and have inflicted so many cuts that they do not have enough prison spaces to hold us all. As someone once said "Osborne you are a plonker"

Another government attack on Disabled people and those too sick to work

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/iain-duncan-smith-calls-for-urgent-esa-overhaul-as-part-of-drive-to-cut-down-welfare-costs-10468503.html Iain Duncan Smith calls for urgent ESA overhaul as part of drive to cut down welfare costs Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan-Smith   This story clearly exposes why the people of our country should not be expected to go through another 5 years of this wretched government with its malicious and divisive policies of austerity and resultant the destruction of the fabric of society. Iain Duncan Smith warns that Employment and Support Allowance, the benefit paid to the sick and disabled will be urgently overhauled. Weasel words to conceal yet another attack on those least able to defend themselves against the excesses of a government intent on creating a Tory dominated society with a totally subservient people where business and private organisations are allowed to enrich themselves at the expense of ordinary p...

An extra £135 per week for MP's !

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/david-cameron-10-pay-rise-offers-mps-opportunity-to-be-more-charitable-10394801.html David Cameron: 10% pay rise offers MPs opportunity to be more charitable MP's have been awarded a salary increase of more than 10%. This award has been granted by the "independent" pay review body and consequently MP's are unable to do anything about it. They may of course as individuals, refuse to accept the increase or alternatively pay the extra cash into some charity or other deserving organisation. The extra money on their payslips, amounts to somewhere in excess of £7000 per annum, which is in excess of the money many people receive as income. Put another way, this figure amounts to around £135 per week. 10% increase for MPs was confirmed with salary now at £74,000.PA It is then ironic that not too long ago, some Public sector workers, nurses, NHS workers and other essential workers were awarded, ...

The IMF and Europe fall out.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/greece-debt-crisis-leaked-imf-report-heaps-fresh-pressure-on-creditors-to-grant-massive-relief-as-part-of-latest-bailout-deal-10389042.html Leaked IMF report heaps fresh pressure on creditors to grant massive relief ahead of key vote Who will trust Germany after this? Disagreement between the IMF and the other terrorists in Europe is not new. It has been evident for over a week now as Merkel and the other Eurozone cabal members have been heaping humiliation and humbling on the Greek people as some form of punishment for Tsipras and his government, having the courage to stand up against the bullies of Northern Europe. We should not be concerned when gangsters fall out amongst themselves.

Financial terrorism from Brussels. You will capitulate to our demands or we shall crush you.

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/jul/13/athens-and-eurozone-agree-bailout-deal-for-greece#comments Greece and eurozone reach agreement in bailout talks How nauseating it is that the media and television, particularly Sky News, should be so triumphant in their reportage of the Brussels "agreement" while basking in the apparent "capitulation of Tsipras and the left wing Greek government". The "conquest" by the Troika, Brussels and the European Central Bank has achieved a deal (which is yet to be ratified by the governments of the signatory governments) only to start negotiations for another bail out of the Greek economy, which includes privatisations, pension reforms, and other austerity measures dictated to the Greek people by Brussels. The bottom line of this "agreement" is of course, that the bullies of Brussels have achieved by threat, blackmail and financial terrorism, the imposition of measures which by any understandin...

A grubby but not illegal excursion into property development.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/george-osbornes-family-struck-a-6m-property-deal-with-firm-based-in-tax-haven--reports-10373416.html   George Osborne's family 'struck a £6m property deal' with firm based in tax haven        Chancellor George Osborne     Today, (Wednesday 8th July), George Gideon Oliver Osborne, will delivery the first fully Conservative budget in almost 20 years. The already leaked details of the budget, (which until recently were the best kept secrets in the country)have already indicated cuts to child tax credits, housing benefits and tax credits on low incomes, together with £13billion cuts to welfare spending. These cuts, forming part of the governments drive for even more austerity in the United Kingdom, will effect the majority of people in the country reducing living standards even further and, it has been suggested increase child poverty, (even using the new government fiddled d...

Tsipras to come up with new plan to save Greece within 24 hours

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/jul/07/eurozone-calls-on-athens-to-get-serious-over-greece-debt-crisis Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande issue Athens with 24-hour ultimatum   "Hell hath no fury...etc" Merkel struts around with the aloof, arrogant attitude so common amongst previous German Chancellor's, that they are right no matter what the evidence of reality may demonstrate. Echo's of the order given by one of her hero's some 70 odd years ago to "hold its position", perhaps. Merkel lowers the "no surrender" principle to a new level but a level driven by pique rather than practicality. The people of Greece, much to the surprise of Brussels a nd the IMF and particularly the chagrin of Berlin, have delivered a resounding rejection of even more austerity in exchange for yet another "loan" to finance an unsustainable debt problem Notwithstanding the various compromise packages offered by the G...

Greece votes "Oxi".

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/greece-referendum-results-live-greeks-say-no-to-austerity-and-plunge-the-eu-into-crisis-10367617.html     Greeks say 'No' to austerity 61% vote "No"    Despite the last 10 days of threat, intimidation, propaganda and blackmail by the IMF, Brussels, the European Central Bank and European Commission against the "No" campaign and Alexis Tsipras and the Syriza government, the people of Greece have delivered a resounding "No" to further and prolonged austerity with 61% of the poll in the referendum. A great result and a great day for Greece and its people. The ball is now with Lagarde and the IMF, and Merkel and the Germans for the EU.

A victim of "Austerity". An elderly man, sitting on the ground outside a bank.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33382046 Greece debt crisis: The cost to pensioners  It is a scene that speaks of suffering and exhaustion, One man crying outside a bank in Thessaloniki.    The blatant campaign and propaganda across Europe and elsewhere, in the press, television and other media (sadly even parts of Al Jazeera) in favour of the "Yes" campaign in Greece, may result in a victory for those who support the IMF, Brussels, the European Central Bank and European Commission and the imposition of even more and harsher austerity, to support a Greek debt, which everyone now accepts, is totally unsustainable. It has even been suggested that the Greek government of Alexis Tsipras, should be removed and replaced by a team of "technocrats" appointed by Brussels to "steer Greece through the current crisis". Democracy has no place in the offices of the autocrats governing Europe. Regime change in Greece has been the obje...

The "Yes" campaigners are either naive, or traitors or more alarmingly, both !

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jun/30/were-not-traitors-insist-greeks-yes-campaigners We're not traitors, insist Greece's yes campaigners Yes campaigners The "Yes" campaigners claim that they are not traitors. If that is true, then they are incredibly naive or, more likely, have their own secret agenda for arguing that Greece should accept even more severe austerity handed out by the autocrats of the IMF and the European Central bank. Moreover, to vote "Yes" in Sunday's referendum condemns Greece to another 15years at least of higher unemployment, higher taxation on food, clothing, utilities and other essentials for the vast majority of the population.  Perhaps those who campaign for a "Yes" vote, are not affected, or are at least protected from the cuts in pensions, the declining standard of living, the regular interruptions to the supply of gas and electricity, the inability to pay for medical treatment and a thousand and...

Brussels throws insults at the Greeks, as the deadline arrives.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/greece-debt-crisis-athens-has-one-day-to-find-16bn-10353977.html Athens has just one day to find €1.6bn as it edges nearer euro exit Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has been branded reckless and a feckless liar by EU leaders The powers of the IMF, Brussels, the European Central Bank and European Commission now with the added weight of Barak Obama of the United States and Li Keqiang the Premiere of China, pile the pressure onto the Greek people to capitulate to the demands and ultimatum of Merkel, Lagarde and Jean-Claude Juncker. Jean-Claude Juncker appealed to Greeks to vote Yes in the referendum Make no mistake. The European Union is operated for the benefit of financiers, bankers and business interests and has little if anything, to do with peace and stability in Europe or the well being of the 500 million or so ordinary people who live within its borders. Any member country government who has th...
