The attempts at deception should at least be credible

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/russia-helping-is-by-hitting-opposition/ar-BBnDA5V?li=AAaeUIW&ocid=U142DHP Russia 'Helping IS By Hitting Opposition'(says Sky News)   More absolute bollox, enthusiastically reported and endorsed by Sky News. Anything, no matter how absurd, which supports the "Pro Western, Pro Syrian opposition, anti Russian" line will be hyped up, exaggerated and promoted in the hope that some elements of the "gung ho" public will actually accept this claptrap as truth and "spread the word" to others. Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and our media, also wish us to believe that all the civilians killed in Syria over the past weeks, have been killed by Russian bombing and that there have been no casualties (apart from ISIS that is) resulting from British, American, French or other Coalition airstrikes. It seems that Russian bombs and missiles are the only ones which have killed Syrian men, women and children. H...

Lord Warner who wanted to charge people £10 to use the NHS resigns Labour whip.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/oct/19/labour-no-longer-credible-party-lord-warner-resigns-whip Lord Warner resigns Labour whip, saying party is 'no longer credible' Lord Warner, who wanted to charge people £10 to use the NHS, steps down   Before everyone gets too excited about Lord Warner (Lord who?) becoming the first Jeremy Corbyn era Labour parliamentarian to resign the whip, perhaps we might examine the background and “political” credentials of the now "new" cross bench peer. A career civil servant from 1960, the Life Peer held offices in the Blair government, being a Parliamentary Under Secretary in the Department of Health from 2003 to 2007, and a Minister of State in the department of Health from 2005 to 2007. he has also been “adviser” to a number of “consulting” companies. He was appointed by the Coalition government as Chair of the Social Care Funding Commission in August 2010. This unelected and unaccountable civil serv...

A sniff of power?

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/sep/18/vince-cable-calls-for-labour-and-lib-dem-centre-left-mps-to-unite Vince Cable calls for Labour and Lib Dem centre-left MPs to unite      Those were the days. Vince Cable leaving No.10     The Liberal Democrats sniffing around because they can scent a slight possibility of getting their cars, perks, increased salaries and a seat at the table again. History tells us that this bunch of hypocrites are interested only in the illusion of" power" granted to them when the got into bed with the Tories to prostitute their principles for "position". Cable and his chums will say and do anything to regain the lost kudos of office. There may well be some in the PLP who would feel more at home with Cable and his cronies, but would they actually have the nerve to publically admit it? Incidentally, where is Farron and what does he say about his colleague's suggestion? The Liberal Democrats s...

The ballots have not yet been cast, but the conspirators are plotting

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/c1b121e6-f184-11e4-98c5-00144feab7de.html Cameron and Clegg prepared to ‘move quickly’ to form coalition The conspirators The pencil marks are not yet on the ballot papers, but here we have Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber plotting their next moves in their war against ordinary people in this country.  On the one hand, the man with the vicious cabinet intent on attacking the sick, disabled, the pensioners and benefit claimants all in the name of "austerity" to "reduce the deficit and balance the books".  On the other hand the unprincipled hypocrite who doesn't really care who occupies 10 Downing Street, as long as he can retain the title of Deputy Prime Minister, the inflated salary, the ministerial car, the additional perks of office, the seat at the cabinet table and all the kudos to satisfy his over inflated ego and perception of his own importance. Until yesterday, these two lying cynics, were tearing lumps off each...

Food banks and comments from people who should be ashamed.

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2015/apr/22/food-bank-users-uk-low-paid-workers-poverty  More than a million people have used food banks in past year figures showing a 19% rise year-on-year is just the ‘tip of the iceberg’   This story should provoke outrage and shame, that in the first quarter of the 21st Century people are forced to use charities to feed their families. From some of the posts in the comments section however, it is clearly obvious that the policies of this govevernment and the associated propaganda, have suceeded in promoting an atmosphere of demonisation of foodbank users and divisions within our society. The bile and venom of many posters against those, many of whom are working but still qualify for benifits, who rely on food charites, is appaling, spiteful and ill informed. The place of foodbanks in our society is sadly a necessity and will not go away anytime soon. In fact it is clearly obvious that the numbers of our p...

Never mind about what's "bad for business". What about what's good for the people?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/generalelection/general-election-2015-tesco-chairman-john-allan-slams-tory-plan-for-eu-referendum-10187367.html Tesco chairman John Allan slams Tory plan for an EU referendum       I am getting very fed up with "business leaders" or other pundits banging on about what may (or may not) be "Bad for businesses" in a referendum on our membership of the European Union and any subsequent decision about leaving, if that is what the outcome might produce. The only question which should be considered is what is good for the British people, be that remaining as a member or leaving. Politicians of all parties should get away from their obssesions with "business" and concentrate on the best interest people they were elected to represent.

Another lacklustre failure in the House of Lords?

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/generalelection/general-election-2015-lib-dem-plan-for-danny-alexander-to-keep-cabinet-post-if-they-forge-another-coalition-with-tories-10187353.html Danny Alexander could retain his Cabinet post in a second coalition government even if he loses his seat in the Scottish Highland Lord Danny of Aviemore? Danny Alexander, Chief Secretary to the Treasury, has demonstrated over the last 5 years, the performance of a man promoted far above the level of his abilities. He has also been less than impressive during interviews and his dealings with the media generally and until very recently been an obediant puppy for Osborne. According to the latest predictions, Danny Alexander will loose his seat on May 7th. Master and man Hopefully, only the Liberal Democrats can dream up a proposal to elevate this lacklustre failure to the House of Lords in order to retain his "abilities" in a futre coalition with ...

The number of families dependent on foodbanks continues to grow,as the IMF and Germany praise Osborne.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/one-million-britons-using-food-banks-according-to-trussell-trust-10186142.html  Food banks: One million Britons will soon be using them, according to Trussell Trust   The figure of 1 million people relying on food banks is now almost reached. It has arrived rather sooner than many people predicted only months ago and is indicative of a scandal which indicates poverty in this country is increasing no matter what Osborne, the coaltion and the IMF may try to convince us about the economy is improving and that government economic policy is on the right track and that things are getting better. No matter what government statisiics, graphs, fig ures, "finacial organisations" or other experts may try to deceive us with, the reality is that more and more people are falling victim to the pernicious, vindictive and divisive policies of this wretched government and its idealogical campaign against ordinary peopl...

The real enemy is the Conservative party.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/apr/16/miliband-sturgeon-final-tv-debate-anti-tory-coalition   Miliband tells Sturgeon in final TV debate: I won't do a deal with you      Miliband has been deflected from the real and only issue. The real enemy to working people in this country is not Sturgeon and the SNP. The enemy is Cameron, Osborne, Iain Duncan-Smith,Sourby and the hundred or so other Conservative MP's who have plagued working people in this country with punative and divisive policies aimed particularly at the sick and disabled, the unemplyed (and I include those on zero hour contracts) anyone claiming benifits, and certainly those 1 million people who are reliant on Foodbanks and other charities to feed their families. It is the prime responsibilty and the duty of the Labour party (at least a Labour party that I would recgognise) to oppose with every means at their disposal the pernicious excesses of capitalism and the Con...

Miliband has lost sight of the real enemy.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/apr/16/miliband-sturgeon-final-tv-debate-anti-tory-coalition Labour leader rejects SNP leader’s offer of an anti-Tory coalition, saying risk to the UK is too great Ed Miliband says that the risks in an Anti Tory coalition "are too great" ! This bacon sandwich munching cartoon chracter is clearly not on the same planet as the benifit claiming people on zero hour contracts, or the disabled who have had their beifits cut,or the people "sanctioned" by the DWP gestapo or the people forced out of their home by bedroom taxes or the thousand of people deserted by the Labour party over the last few decades and the 1 million people plus who are now reliant on foodbanks and other charites. Ed you are wrong. It is the risks of the Tories that are "too great" to the British people that you should be considering. A coaltion, arrangement, understanding call it what you will against t...

The Downing Street "prostitute" seeking another position.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/apr/15/lib-dems-only-alternative-coalition-snp-or-ukip-nick-clegg#comment-50468320 Lib Dems are only alternative to 'coalition of grievance', says Nick Clegg  Party leader says Liberal Democrats would offer conscience and stability in coalition after 7 May     . He has said his party is the only stable choice at the election.     The comments of a man desparate to retain the position and priviledges he has enjoyed over the last five years. The ministerial car, the inflated salary, the title of "Deputy" Prime minister, the expenses, the seat at the cabinet table and the perceived kudos would all be lost unless Clegg can weasle his way into another coalition with whoever would be prepared to take him. He is one of those people who would be prepared to prostitute themselves and every principle they may once have held in exchange for their perception of power. The problem of course is that Clegg was...

The expectation of success in defiance of the evidence

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/lib-dems-want-to-have-their-own-ministries-in-any-new-coalition-9845455.html   Lib Dems want to have their own ministries in any new Coalition Nick Clegg with Danny Alexander The Liberal Democrats seem to be very optimistic about actually having enough Westminster parliamentary seats to influence any discussions connected with coalitions after the next general election. Clearly a case of Danny Alexander and the other nonentities of the current LibDem part of this wretched coalition, preparing their positions for another sell out in a squalid bid to retain their ministerial cars, seats at the cabinet table (no matter who's cabinet it may be) and the other perks they have enjoyed over the last 5 years.

The "top of the agenda". Well, it is top for today anyway.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/oct/23/labour-immigration-reform-bill-voter-concerns?commentpage=1 Ed Miliband: immigration is at top of Labour’s agenda   Ed Miliband: Another career politician.     The hypocrisy of career politicians is breathtaking.  It is not possible to have more than one subject "at the top" of any agenda. One day it is the NHS at the top, then the economy and the national debt, then education etc. It seems that the item at "the top of agenda" can vary on a day to day basis, dependent upon which subject the political party perceives to be the most popular with the British people at the time. Echo's of the SDP back in the 1980's. No wonder that politicians generally are despised and not trusted, by the British people who are in any case disillusioned with the political process. YouGov reports today that the next general election could result in a "dead heat" with party being able to form any sort of ...

Replace Clegg with Cable? A poor option from a poor selection.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/lib-dem-mps-in-bid-to-oust-nick-clegg-after-disastrous-election-results-9432134.html     Lib Dem MPs in bid to oust Nick Clegg after disastrous election results   Protest against leader Nick Clegg, could see Vince Cable take over. An almost unbelievable prospect. Clegg, an unprincipled hypocrite and opportunistic politician, who betrayed not only his party in the country, but also every principle that the Liberal Party ever stood for. In his grubby quest for a place at the cabinet table, he has demonstrated on numerous occasions over the last four years, an unswerving loyalty to a (predominately) Conservative government who have created divisions in society, unseen for almost 100 years. The consequence of the past four years of his duplicity and in part, that of the LibDem parliamentary party, has resulted in the rejection of the Coalition junior partner at the ballot box. The LibDems ...

Hedging his bets to hang on to his job.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/feb/17/nick-clegg-hint-coalition-labour Clegg hints at possible coalition deal with Labour in 2015 The deputy prime minister and desperate to remain so   Clegg, the two faced hypocrite who again demonstrates, that he would say and do anything in order to hang on to his grubby little piece of power sitting at the cabinet table. The rewards of office are far more important to this wretched man than any thought of principle or credibility. He and those who follow him should be returned to where they belong, in the obscurity of opposition after the 2015 election.

The prostitution of principle for contaminated power.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/01/08/ed-balls-nick-clegg_n_4561996.html?utm_hp_ref=uk   Ed Balls Says He Could Join Coalition With Nick Clegg   Balls and Clegg    Another reason why politics in this country and its politicians, are loathed and despised. The prostitution of principle  (if they have any) for the acquisition of power, no matter how corrupt or contaminated such power may be. The people of the country are sacrificed on the altar of the ego's and personal ambitions of shameless and self serving men (and women) more interested in their positions, salaries and expense accounts and other perks rather than working people, the sick, the disabled, the unemployed and the excesses of businesses, banks and privatised industries. The cynicism and hypocrisy of this arrogant posturing was a contributory factor in my decision to leave the labour Party some years ago. The "power at any cost" philosophy which was becoming the o...

The strange world of Ed Davey.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/11/16/switch-energy-firms_n_4289042.html?utm_hp_ref=uk  Energy Secretary said: "Switching is one of the best ways that people can force the Big Six to compete on price and take control of their energy bills". Energy Secretary Ed Davey    Ed Davey says that "......... 'Big Six' Can Be Forced To Compete On Price" This blockhead clearly lives on a different planet to the rest of us. A planet where privatised companies especially power companies, are philanthropic organisations, responding to the whims of their customers and vigorously competing with each other by reducing their prices and improving their services. There is no such thing as an energy company cartel and customers are  of prime importance, rather than victims acting as "cash cows" for the rapacious companies. It must be a very pleasant place in Mr Davey's world. I wonder what colour the sky is.

LibDems will form a coalition with anybody...............................if they get the chance.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/09/15/liberal-democrats-prefer-_n_3929034.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Liberal Democrats Prefer Coalition With Labour     Nick Clegg and however many of his Parliamentary mercenaries remain after the next general election, will form a coalition (provided of course that no one party secures an overall majority) with who ever offers the the best cabinet position s and or ministries and or chairmanships or any other of the perks with which they will be bribed.  A "joker" in the pack?   When it comes to manifesto commitments or political principle, Clegg and his band of hypocritical misfits will soon forget such small details in their grubby bids for "power". They will gladly grab their "thirty pieces of silver" as they leap into their ministerial limousines and purr off to their second homes.

Ashdown: Defending the indefensible.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/09/13/paddy-ashdown-liberal-democrat-conference_n_3919984.html?utm_hp_ref=uk  Paddy Ashdown Tells Lib Dems It Would Be 'Crazy' To End Coalition Early Ashdown and Alan Beith contested the first leadership election in 1988, which Ashdown won by a substantial margin. Asked why he thought that Beith had been so heavily defeated and why he and many other Liberal Democrat MP's had voted for Ashdown, a leading Liberal MP at the time responded, "We can put sense into the man with charisma, but not charisma into the man with sense". It seems that after some years of sitting on the red leather benches in the House of Lords, the charisma has melted away, and whatever "sense" the Liberal Democrats may have managed to put into the former member for Yeovil, it has been replaced by a rather confused view of reality. His comments and observations in recent years, has culminated over the past two weeks with h...

When it comes to austerity, there are no differences between them.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/06/26/job-seekers-allowance-spending-review_n_3503645.html?utm_hp_ref=uk  There is no choice between the parties. They both seek to retain the "status quo". Chancellor George Osborne   This country is lost in a quagmire of right centre politics, dominated by the Conservative and Labour parties preaching much the same policies as each other, but with marginally different emphases. The Liberal democrats are in the same dreamland, but flit around trying to find an opportunistic perch, upon which to alight and barter their few seats in the house of Commons in exchange for a few cabinet posts should either of the other parties fail to achieve an overall majority under our present antiquated and blatantly unfair voting system. All the while, the people of this nation remain locked into a situation where they have little control of their everyday environment and even less prospect of bringing about any real ...
