The "punishment" does not fit the crime

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/may/27/driver-andrew-nay-jailed-crash-paralysed-katrina-karlina-raiba Driver who paralysed sisters in crash is jailed for four and a half years Katrina (L) and Karlina Raiba Only a four year and six months sentence for a horrendous crime. The criminal,  Andrew Nay, will probably be released in two years time to resume a relatively normal life. The two girls involved,  Katrina and Karlina Raiba, now aged eight and six, will endure their injuries every hour of every day for the remainder of their lives. Another example of how there is little justice in many of our courts. If we no room in our prisons to keep such people off our roads, build more prisons. Andrew Nay Andrew Nay should spend the rest of his natural life in custody.

Will we allow this evil murderer to remain in the UK, when we deport a 19year old girl studying for "A" levels?

http://www.independent.co.uk/incoming/convicted-killer-fights-deportation-to-crowded-and-dirty-italian-prison-where-he-will-be-unable-to-call-his-wife-9278717.html   Convicted killer fights deportation to ‘crowded and dirty’ Italian prison where he will be 'unable to call his wife' Danilo Restivo   This is another glaring example of the argument and criticism which I used when condemning the deportation of Yashika Bhageerathi back in early April. http://new-agenda2012.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/a-callous-outrage-yashika-bhageerathi.html At that time,I received many comments to the effect that she deserved to be deported due to being an "illegal immigrant" and that events such as those concerning Danilo Restivo as described in this article, the family rights connections or the traumatised cat, did not in fact happen. To all those detractors at the time, and to all those PC morons supporting this evil man now, these events do happen and they are an out...

Redress in law must be available for all, not just the rich.

http://www.theguardian.com/law/2014/mar/07/lawyers-protest-parliament-legal-aid-cuts Lawyers protest outside parliament at legal aid cuts Barristers and solicitors as they hold a demonstration outside parliament. Former Tory MP Sir Ivan Lawrence QC is ashamed of government for 'destroying criminal justice system' Were it not for the legal aid system, I would have been unable to bring my case to the courts and the organisation would have got away with it. The lawyers may make money from the legal aid funds, but that is good value for people who would otherwise have no redress in the courts. The barristers and solicitors, certainly have my full support.

Is there something wrong with our sentancing?

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/06/21/jeremy-forrest-pleads-guilty-child-sex-charges_n_3477458.html?utm_hp_ref=uk&utm_hp_ref=uk  Jeremy Forrest has been sentenced to five-and-a-half-years   Huffington Post have closed comments for this and all other articles associated with this story. Now why could this be ?  It is interesting to compare the 15month sentence for Hall, who committed offences against at least 14 girls, of whom at least one was only 9, with Forrest who committed offences against one girl who was almost 16 at the time and still seems to be in some sort of relationship with him.

Stuart Hall Jailed For 15 Months

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/06/17/stuart-hall-sentence-unduly-lenient_n_3454685.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Paedophiles Like Hall Do Not Deserve Lenience Stuart Hall   Stuart Hall receives a sentence of only 15 months which in effect means that he could be released in 6 months or even, under certain circumstances, four. The sentence it seems took into account the fact that he pleaded guilty. It has also emerged that, presumably, as part of "the deal", a more serious charge of rape was dropped. It has further been suggested that the 14 counts on which Hall was convicted was only part of a significantly higher number of charges which were not brought.  The sentence was indeed very lenient.   Sky News Presenter Anna Botting A more disturbing observation and comment came on last nights (17th June) Sky News programme during the paper review at 10:30pm. Anna Botting actually said that the offences committed by Hall came at the "lower end" of ...

Justice, provided that you can afford it.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/new-legal-aid-reforms-end-justice-for-all-lawyers-warn-8591234.html Under plans to save £200m solicitors will be paid fixed fees, with contracts going to firms like G4S New legal aid reforms end "justice for all"   The objective of course, is to deny people access to legal redress for negligence, personal injury, abuse by the rich and powerful and the media, and all the other Tort's against ordinary people, which are becoming so prevalent in society today.
