Showing posts with the label Gaza

The media should report on all terrorist atrocities, not just those in Europe.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-corbyn-says-the-media-should-have-covered-attacks-in-beirut-and-ankara-as-well-as-paris-a6736381.html The media should have covered Isis attacks in Lebanon and Turkey more prominently Lebanon after deadly Beirut blasts A bomb in Turkish capital   Yesterday, I posted a very similar story and I asked the same questions. There were a number of responses to the post in Guardian, Independent and even here of Facebook, which were in the same vein. These nasty, ignorant, pathetic "comments" actually suggested, or even stated, that the atrocity in Paris was the only story which should be reported because the bombings in Lebanon, Turkey and the continuing attacks in Syria and Gaza were  the victims own fault. I can tolerate being labeled by some as "stupid" or  "a worthless piece of Corbynista trash" or "scum like you" and other, even more colourful descriptions, but ...

Israeli media blames FaceBook!!

http://www.haaretz.com/blogs/david-s-harp/.premium-1.680378?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook Haaretz says: If the wave of violence we’re seeing now morphs into a full-fledged Third Intifada, blame it on Facebook.      No. Blame this "intifada",on the continuing occupation of Palestine by a barbaric and increasingly vicious Israeli occupation force. Blame this "intifada" on the illegal and inhuman blockade of Gaza by Israel from land and sea and daily airstrikes against the people trapped in the Gaza strip. Blame this "intifada" on the occupation and blockade of Jerusalem and the al-Aqsa Mosque and the Israeli check points every few hundred yards around Palestinian neighbourhoods in occupied East Jerusalem. Blame this "intifada" on the evil Israeli "settlers" on the West Bank and the other occupied areas who build their illegal settlements destroying, infrastructure, crops and homes, and mur...

Tawfiq Abu Riyala, a fisherman from Gaza, killed by Israeli Defence Forces.

The agreement provided for the opening of the border crossings to allow building materials, medical supplies and other essential materials into Gaza, the shrinking of the "buffer zone", around the perimeter of Gaza to allow Palestinians access to their farm lands, and the extension of the fishing zones around Gaza to 12 miles. Due to the duplicitous relationship between the ruling clique of Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in Egypt and the Israeli occupation forces in Palestine under the government of Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Avi...

The double standards of the western governments.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/middle-east/.premium-1.636538  Egypt to raze 2000 more homes for Gaza "Buffer zone" Demolishing homes in Rafah   Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, dictator of Egypt, who with American and Israeli backing overthrew the democratically elected President with a bloody coup, authorised mass arrests and show trials of journalists, political opponents, and dissidents continues with his programme of terror and punishment on the people of Gaza and Palestine. Acting on "instructions from Tel Aviv and no doubt Washington, Egyptian authorities have begun implementing phase two in the flattening of large swaths of Rafah. An evil cabal in Cairo conspiring with the evil Tel Aviv and Washington axis to inflict punishment, pain and misery on men women and children in Palestine. The world says nothing in criticism of this shameful act.

The death of a "comedian"

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/news/joan-rivers-dead-comedian-dies-in-new-york-aged-81-9712928.html Joan Rivers dead: Comedian dies in New York aged 81 Joan Rivers   The "tributes" for this woman come pouring into the media and television from "luvies" and (some) critics saying how funny and witty she was. However, many people, myself included will remember her only for her comment on the of the 11th August 2014, some 25 days ago, when she said “Palestinians deserve to be dead. They started it. We now don't count who's dead. You're dead, you deserve to be dead.” Since then the total number of Palestinians killed has risen to over 2100 of which more that 500 are children. That is good news for the Yazidi's. Gaza hospitals in dire need of supplies Meanwhile elsewhere, the siege of Gaza continues. The 500,000 Palestinians remain without shelter, the hospitals remain bursting at the seams with thousands of injured civilians, many of which are children being treated two to a bed, the supply of medicines and medical essentials remains critical and food, water and shelter remain in short supply. wards filled beyond capacity and a never-ending stream of injured In Gaza, it is as bad as feared, but nobody in Washington, London,Paris, the UN security Council or Berlin gives a damn. Resignation on a matter of principle

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/aug/05/warsi-attacks-morally-indefensible-stand-gaza-quits-coalition Warsi attacks 'morally indefensible' stand on Gaza as she quits coalition and says that Cameron has lost moral authority Sayeeda Warsi   I have never been a great admirer of Sayeeda Warsi. In fact, on a number of occasions, I have been very critical of the woman. However, on this occasion, she is absolutely right. As all of the rest of the world, well almost all, condemns Israel and its aggression on Gaza as being "disproportionate", "immoral" or even illegal, The government of this country, led by Cameron and some other Bullingdon Club former members, can only bring themselves to mutter a few weasel words of criticism as their LibDem coalition partners come out of the woodwork and agree with Miliband and the Labour Party, that Israel has gone too far. Aeriel Sharon: The “the ultimate realist” ?

As his condition deteriorates further, Doctors are saying that his life is in danger, and we should expect an announcement of his death at any time. When that happens, there will be the usual outpourings of grief, tributes from many world leaders and the endless reviews of his life and times in the media and on television. It should also be remembered what role Sharon played, as Israeli Defense Minister in the 1982 Sabra and Shatila massacre, the withdrawing of Israeli settlers from Gaza in 2005 whilst maintaining Israeli still control of Gaza’s air and sea borders, paving the way for a siege and the ong...

Rachel Corrie.

http://rachelcorriefoundation.org/   Extract from an email to her mother, February 28 2003. "I think I could see a Palestinian state or a democratic Israeli-Palestinian state within my lifetime. I think freedom for Palestine could be an incredible source of hope to people struggling all over the world. I think it could also be an incredible inspiration to Arab people in the Middle East, who are struggling under undemocratic regimes which the US supports."   Rachel Corrie    Ten years ago today, Rachel Corrie was murdered by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) in Rafah, in the southern part of the Gaza. Her killer(s) have never been brought to justice. Another atrocity by the Israeli occupation forces in Palestine.   Rachel Corrie (April 10, 1979 – March 16, 2003). Israel planning more measures against Palestine.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/for-first-time-britain-france-may-recall-ambassadors-in-protest-at-israel-s-settlement-construction.premium-1.481963 Moves against Israel will be made in next the few days following Netanyahu’s decision to move ahead and build 3,000 housing units in the settlement blocs, and in East Jerusalem Israel plans to build 3,000 new housing units for Jewish settlers     A source in the Prime Minister’s Bureau said Israel was planning more steps against the Palestinian Authority. “The Palestinians will soon realize they made a mistake" Are nations finally beginning to realise that Israel has no interest in any form of peace process or in the "Two state solution"? Israeli governments have historically been interested, only in the expansion of "Greater Israel" by force and ethnic cleansing. Nothing has changed with the Netanyahu government or is there any likelihood of any change in the attitude of the ...

Israel "defending" itself.

His comments should be condemned by the United States and the United Kingdom in the strongest possible fashion, and he should immediately be sacked from his post in the Israeli government. He should also be arrested and charged with incitement to murder. Of course, none of this will happen because the ...

Gaza hospital runs out of medicines

Gihttp://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/overwhelmed-palestinian-doctors-run-out-of-lifesaving-medicines-8327307.htmllad Pandemonium in Gaza City hospital as survivors are pulled from rubble Chaos in Gaza hospital as doctors run out of medicines    The Israeli assault on Gaza is not about self defence, it is not about Hamas and its rockets, it is not even about achieving peace. This Israeli aggression against Gaza is about ethnic cleansing and the systematic killing of Palestinians. An Israeli politician has already admitted that the objective should be to "drive the Palestinians out of Gaza and into the Sinai dessert" and today Gilad Sharon, son of former Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, "We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza,". The Israeli press of course agrees with him, and in a speech shown numerous times across the worlds media Obama repeats the lie that the present conflict is a result...

Fueling the flames

A demonstration in Tel Aviv.  Watch this video. The man giving the speech through the loud speaker, is Michael Ben Ari, an Israeli Knesset member. A demonstration against something is one thing, but the hatred shown in the actions and the chants of these demonstrators is something evil and despicable. In any other country they would be arrested for racial hatred and incitement, but in Israel, it seems that hatred of Palestinians and people in Gaza, is accepted as the norm. Many people in Israel wonder why they are, at the same time feared and despised. Many Americans support and defend the sentiments shown by these evil bigots and then wonder why the United States is criticised as hypocritical and loathed by many for their unconditional support, both political and financial for a regime which occupies territories in Palestine, enforces a blockade of Gaza and its population of around 1.7 million people crammed into an area of around 140 square miles, and then regularly kil...

Israeli airstrikes on Gaza.

Among those killed in the Israeli air strikes in the last two days was the 11-month-old son of a BBC Arabic Service cameraman in Gaza City. air raids on Gaza  BBC News and SKY News placing great emphasis on the three Israeli's being killed by rockets fired by "militants" from Gaza. Live interviews with Israeli government spokespersons, neighbours, police and emergency services at the scene, are filling the lead news slots and the reporters seem almost as hysterical as the people being interviewed.  There has been little, if any, mention of the eleven Palestinians including at least two children,  killed by Israeli airstrikes in the last 24 hours. No mention of the bombing of civilians and their homes and infrastructure in Gaza City.  So much for the balanced reporting of the British media who are resorting to type and perpetuating the Israeli/United States inspired myth that Israel is always the victim. Message to Tel Aviv and Netanyahu. Forget the pea...

Reaping the whirlwind.

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.440380919337034.90945.145097112198751&type=1 Anti American protest grows. There is a growing anti American mood sweeping through the Middle East, which will prompt the United States into re evaluating their relationships with new, less subservient regimes. There is anger in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya.  Clearly, the Americans are not surprised. Nor should they be. They have been sowing the wind for more than 80 years, and now they are beginning to reap the whirlwind.

A film, made to provoke.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/yemen/9542014/Turmoil-spreads-across-Muslim-world-over-controversial-Mohammed-film.html     It should come as no surprise to anyone that there are protests against this film and incidentally no surprise, that these protests will continue and spread. The Innocence Of Muslims, depicts Mohammed as a fraud and shows him having sex and calling for massacres. The makers, supporters and financiers of this film care nothing about the "Freedom of speech" argument. Their motive was to be provocative and to generate hostility amongst Muslims throughout the Middle east and perhaps elsewhere, which in turn would result in mass protest. Their other objective was to promote reaction in the west against such protests, and to encourage the growing hostility in many people towards Islam and its followers. In this, the film makers and supportive politicians, have been encouraged by a generally Islamophobic western media w...

The "Holocaust". A justification for aggression.

http://blogs.independent.co.uk/2012/08/26/auschwitz-how-relevant-is-it-in-todays-society/ "Holocaust"How relevant is it in today’s society? The relevance of the "Holocaust" is diminished every time it is used as a justification or reason for another act of aggression by Israel against Palestinians or some other neighbour. The "Holocaust Card" has been played by successive Israeli governments since 1948 in order to generate a collective guilty conscience in the outside world with the purpose of giving credibility to the "right to self defence" argument, so favoured with numerous government spokespersons. As  former Israeli Minister Shulamit Aloni stated in an interview on Democracy Now, " We always pull out the holocaust/anti-semitic trump card ". (You Tube video). Using the Holocaust as a justification for aggression against others is an insult to those who died during the Nazi period, be they Jews, Gypsies...

Rachel Corrie: April 10, 1979 – March 16, 2003

http://rememberrachel.tumblr.com/ On August 28, 2012 at 9:00AM, the verdict in the civil suit filed against the State of Israel by the Corrie family is set to be announced.  As the verdict approaches, we want to use this moment to reflect on Rachel’s life and work and want to encourage you to act in remembrance of her.    On March 16, 2003, an IDF operation in the land between the Rafah refugee camp and the border with Egypt was engaged in clearing brush, which the IDF says is necessary to destroy hideouts and tunnels  Corrie was part of a group of seven ISM activists (three British and four US) attempting to disrupt the actions of Israeli bulldozers. Corrie, who had positioned herself in the path of a Caterpillar D9R armored bulldozer , was fatally injured. She was transported to a Palestinian hospital. Accounts vary as to whether she died at the scene, in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, or at the hospital.
