John Rentoul still predicting the end of the Labour leadership

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/labour-ukip-byelection-win-results-stoke-copeland-what-it-means-these-by-elections-make-corbyn-s-a7596796.html That is the end of Jeremy Corbyn, then.  says John Rentoul of the Independent. John Rentoul: "Journalist" Rentoul has been agitating, pushing and encouraging the removal of Jeremy Corbyn since the day following the Labour leadership election of September 2015. As perhaps the most high-profile defender of Tony Blair, Rentoul describes himself as "having a slavish admiration" for the former Prime Minister, which probably explains his constant and usually distorted reporting on the Labour leadership. Rentoul was a vocal and enthusiastic supporter of Liz Kendall in the first leadership election and supported Owen Smith in the 2016 election, thus is it not difficult to see where his political preferences lie. The article contains the usual distortion and biased slant as is common in the vast majority ...

Yesterday, the Guardian preached tolerance and compromise.Today, the Observer throws off the mask.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/24/observer-view-labour-leadership-election-jeremy-corbyn-victory-defeat The Observer view on the Labour leadership election. Yesterday morning, prior to the result of the election for the Labour party leadership being declared, I wrote a piece under the heading of, " Has the Guardian become converted to the tolerance and compromise idea? " Today, in its disguise as the Observer, there is another piece of "opinion", now masquerading as " Observer editorial", which appears to have thrown the almost reconciliatory editorial of yesterday, into the editors waste bin and reverted to type in attacking Corbyn and seeking to undermine his position by unquestioned support for the Parliamentary Labour Party. It is hardly in the spirit of "Tolerance and Compromise" as proposed by yesterday's editorial, to spew out, less than 24 hours later (and noticeably after the election result),...

Has the Guardian become converted to the tolerance and compromise idea ?

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/23/the-guardian-view-on-the-labour-leadership-wanted-tolerance-and-compromise The Guardian view on the Labour leadership.  Wanted: Tolerance and compromise. Editorial. I read this article twice. The first time, I thought that I had picked up a piece which had strayed into the pages of the Guardian, as if by accident from another newspaper. Only upon the second reading did I realise, with a growing sense of incredulity, that this was in fact a Guardian article and moreover, one written under the heading of, ""Editorial": The Guardian view on the Labour leadership: wanted – tolerance and compromise ". I found the "Editorial" to be a little puzzling, because here they are, calling for , "a collective effort to work together or even merely to coexist tolerantly, based on compromise and mutual respect" when, for the past 12 months or so, the Guardian has been in the v...

The "Independent" off to an early start in the smear and vilification crusade.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/labour-leadership-results-live-jeremy-corbyn-owen-smith-poll-incompetent-working-class-voters-a7326486.html Poll for The Independent shows a major disconnect between traditional Labour voters and new Corbyn supporters (well what would you expect from the "Independent")        Labour supporters are still backing Jeremy Corbyn in droves The result of the Labour Party leadership election has not yet even been declared (the time is 06:50 Saturday 24th September), and already the "Independent" is preparing the ground for the next round of the, "We must get rid of Corbyn", smear and vilification campaign. The rest of the anti Corbyn media and television cabal will no doubt wade in with their duplicitous distortions over the next few hours and days (provided of course that at around 11:45 this morning Corbyn is actually declared to have won the ballot) to carry on the deceitful crusade that they have...

Miliband Major is not coming back

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/david-miliband-savages-jeremy-corbyn-and-his-own-brother-too-a7321531.html David Miliband savages 'unelectable' Jeremy Corbyn, and his own brother too There are those in the Labour party who would like to see the return of Miliband Major to British politics. There are also those in the Labour party who rather that he stayed 3000 miles away. Miliband Major never really got over the shock, some may even say humiliation, of being defeated by his brother Miliband Minor, for the "Big Job" in Labour Party politics. Many people, not least of all Miliband Major himself, considered that the matter was a done deal and that he would be anointed as leader, to follow in the footsteps of Blair (via Brown). His disappointment and surprise was evident to all at the special Labour Party Conference, and to those watching on television, as Miliband Minor was awarded the crown, and within a very short space of time, Miliband Major...

John McTernan and the Telegraph are so wrong. Again !

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09/08/owen-smith-wiped-the-floor-with-jeremy-corbyn-in-labours-questio/ Owen Smith wiped the floor with Jeremy Corbyn in Labour's Question Time debate. John McTernan How can this "political adviser" McTernan, be so wrong on so many issues? McTernan writing for the Telegraph again, says he was watching BBC's Question Time Labour leadership debate last night (8th September). Perhaps the headline to this Telegraph story and the content of the article itself, was the only text that the Telegraph would allow McTernan to put into print before paying him his fee. He was certainly not watching the same 60 minutes of debate that I watched and tellingly, his verdict on the proceedings is not reflected in the poll at the end of the article either. Certainly I and I suspect hundreds of thousands of other viewers, drew an entirely opposite conclusion from what we saw and heard during the exchanges. At the e...

Frances O'Grady says Labour should get on with being an effective opposition.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/sep/07/tuc-leader-says-labour-is-failing-to-act-as-effective-opposition TUC leader says Labour is failing to act as effective opposition TUC General Secretary Frances O'Grady Frances O'Grady could well be right."“It is important that Labour does not just focus on members and MPs but actually unites and gets on with being an effective opposition and map out a route to victory". However, O'Grady and others who repeat this "selective" view of reality fail, either by accident or more probably design, to mention even in passing, the reasons for the party being " focused on internal rows". Even before the leadership election of last year, there were those elements within the Parliamentary Labour Party (as well as in the media), openly stating that in the event that Jeremy Corbyn became leader of the Labour party, they would launch a coup to remove him from the leadership "within days...

Seeking to restore the "good old days" of Parliamentary Labour Party dominance.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/aug/22/corbyn-v-smith-labour-leader-voting-system-democratic-car-crash Corbyn v Smith for Labour's next leader, but being a winner is not enough.  Says Anne Perkins. Jeremy Corbyn and Owen Smith The Guardian continues on its compulsive campaign to undermine and remove Jeremy Corbyn from the Labour party leadership. In this self appointed role as the "Champion of the Parliamentary Labour Party", the Guardian will, and does, use any tool available to it or any argument, no matter how tenuous such argument may be, as the media mouthpiece for any disaffected MP with their own agenda, or for individuals who seek to erode support for the Corbyn leadership. The tool for tod ay’s assault is the "Opinion" section of the newspaper, where the editorial staff and the proprietor can shelter behind the shield of denial that the "Opinion" as printed is that of the writer, not necessarily of the paper. A v...

The Parliamentary Labour Party conspirators are hatching another coup.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/corbyn-labour-leadership-rebel-mps-a7202641.html Labour MPs plan for Corbyn victory  and plot how to confront an emboldened leader Even for the "Independent", the number and use of unnamed anonymous "sources" in this article is quite astonishing. However, amongst all the usual speculative delusion, there is one factor which causes concern to anyone who believes in the Labour Party, its principles and in he democratic process of the Labour movement. It is abundantly clear that elements within the Parliamentary Labour Party, are even now, planning another coup in the event that Jeremy Corbyn should emerge as winner in the current ballot. The failed coup of earlier this year, has now descended into a sham leadership election, because the conspirators still fail to accept the democratic decision of the Labour party membership and cling to ...

Sadiq Khan's sudden endorsement for Owen Smith, has a very hollow ring to it.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/aug/20/ditch-jeremy-corbyn-before-too-late-sadiq-khan-tells-labour Ditch Jeremy Corbyn before it’s too late, Sadiq Khan tells Labour London Mayor Sadiq Khan. According to Christina Patterson, I and the 600,000 odd other members of the Labour Party are "nutters". Patterson, is the "freelance journalist" with the constant sneering facial expression and intensely patronising attitude, often seen on the sofa in Sky News television studio, reviewing the papers. Not only are we "nutters", but we are also "mad", "insane" and "stupid" for being members of a party which, according to Patterson, is destined for political oblivion and is ensuring a "one party", (Conservative), State in this country for the foreseeable future. A party of full of "nutters" which incidentally has the largest membership of any political party in Europe, is dismissed as an irrelevance ...

A degree of hypocrisy as Smith accuses Government of ‘covering up’ privatisation in the NHS .

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/labour-leadership-candidate-owen-smith-accuses-government-of-covering-up-privatisation-in-the-nhs-a7190411.html Owen Smith accuses Government of ‘covering up’ privatisation in the NHS Owen Smith Owen Smith, "The Stooge Candidate" (because nobody in PLP had the backbone to take on Corbyn themselves), has had the veil lifted from his eyes and realises what many of us in the Labour Party have been saying for years. The Conservative government and the ConDem coalition before them, are destroying the NHS with their programmes of cuts, closures and piecemeal privatisation. The Blair government started the process with PFI and the Conservatives have accelerated this smashing  of a National Institution which they have despised since 1948. Strangely, Smith (who was never Shadow Health Minister; another of Smith's distortions of truth), must have been aware of this breakup of the NHS for sometime, as he was once working ...

Laura Kuenssberg wasting no time to spew out more spite and smear against the Labour party leadership.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-36633238 Corbyn office 'sabotaged' EU Remain campaign - says Kuenssberg Laura Kuenssberg   The obnoxious and politically biased Laura Kuenssberg, wastes no time in pouring out more anti Corbyn smear and bile. Using her usual unnamed "sources" in the Corbyn offices, Kuennsberg jumps into this day of turmoil brought about by resignations and sackings from the Shadow Cabinet to spread her spite and smears. Spreading oil into the flames barely does justice to this woman's hatred of the Labour party and the lengths that she will go to distort truth and manufacture fanciful stories designed discredit and vilify anyone she perceives as an opponent. To describe her as a journalist brings a once noble occupation into disrepute. It is as if she were carrying out some intricate scheme hatched in Conservative Central office with the ultimate prize of a very safe Conservative seat somewhere in the heart of rural England. She...

Conspirators emerging from the shadows of anonymity

Blairites launch bid to  topple  Jeremy Corbyn Margaret Hodge,  Ann Coffey and Jeremy Corbyn   During the course of the past few days, since the result of the EU membership referendum was announced in fact, the conspirators within the Parliamentary Labour Party (the PLP) seem to have been emboldened in their crusade to remove Jeremy Corbyn from the leadership. A crusade which has been smoldering within the PLP and supported by the media, has now been given impetus by the PLP disappointment with the referendum result and has encouraged the conspirators to break cover and table a "no confidence" motion in the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn. Over the past 36 hours, Margaret Hodge and Ann Coffey have tabled a "no confidence" motion, to be closely followed by John Mann (who will grasp any opportunity to advance his own agenda), adding his "weight" to the "Plot". Caroline Flint Tristram Hunt ...
