Another favourite disappearing from many television screens.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/mar/23/sky-buys-exclusive-rights-to-all-formula-one Sky buys exclusive rights to all Formula One        F1 a television favourite of mine, is removed from my screen (apart from the British Grand Prix) by the greed and self interest of Ecclestone, and the "power" of Sky Television. Rupert Murdoch Bernie Ecclestone I totally refuse to put even more money into Murdoch's pocket by purchasing his "Sky Sports" packages (or any of the other packages) just to watch one series of events and will stick with "Freeview". The spread of Sky television into all aspects of viewing is, I would suggest, depriving me and thousands of other people the pleasure of watching popular programmes as a consequence of the pure greed of the television company and various sports organisers. Some people will not buy Sky television as a matter of principle and others will not buy simply...

A nation divided

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/two-nations-13m-brits-will-spend-12bn-on-panic-saturday-but-13m-others-across-the-country-will-spend-this-christmas-in-poverty-9937088.html     13m will spend £1.2bn on 'Panic Saturday', but 13m others across the country will spend this Christmas in poverty          In the first quarter of the 21st Century, it is a scandal and a disgrace that 13 million people are, no matter what measurement you choose to employ in establishing that figure, living in poverty in this country today. Over 1 million families reliant on Food-banks and other charities, 1 million in child poverty, hundreds of thousands of people homeless, or in inadequate accommodation, many people actually in work who earn less than the minimum wage or are on zero hour contracts, having to claim benefits, which are being further reduced by government cuts, are indicative of a fractured nation....

Greed fueling violence as Black Friday is now part of British society.

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2014/nov/28/black-friday-fever-police-battle-shoppers?commentpage=1   Bargain hunting turns violent as American phenomenon comes to UK     Raw greed    Another imported "Ponzi" from the United States, artificially created to extend even further, the "Christmas Shopping" frenzy and make more profits for the stores and manufactures. Over the past week, my e-mail has been inundated with "junk" mail from practically every know on line supplier, advertising "Black Friday" bargains and screaming their "buy now" messages. It is a sad and almost sinister phenomena in British society which now, after only two or three years vigorous promoting has firmly established “Black Friday”, as a regular November event. The photographs and video reports of the fighting in Asda, Tesco and numerous other stores around the country, the police and security staff separating hysterical "s...

Supermarkets feeling the pinch after years of "plenty"

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/01/09/morrisons-tesch-marks-spencer_n_4566246.html?utm_hp_ref=uk    Morrisons, Tesco, Marks & Spencer Sales Hit By Tough Christmas Who next? Following on from the "Years of plenty" when these supermarkets, particularly Tesco, were proudly announcing "record profits" running to £ Billions, I for one have little sympathy for the decline in their fortunes. It seems to me that the general downward trend in the high street and supermarkets fortunes has more to do with their previous profiteering and greed, forcing up prices at the expense of their customers and their suppliers. Now is the time for these companies to recognise that their prices are too high and have been for some time which is the predominant reason why people are now cutting back on their shopping expenditure. The supermarkets can join the rest of us and experience a dose of "austerity".

Greed and envy are good says Boris Johnson.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/embrace-culture-of-greed-says-boris-johnson-8968276.html Embrace culture of greed, says Boris Johnson Boris Johnson.  "I stress – I don't believe that economic equality is possible; indeed some measure of inequality is essential for the spirit of envy and keeping up with the Joneses that is, like greed, a valuable spur to economic activity." Johnson delivering the annual Margaret Thatcher lecture at the Centre for Policy Studies think-tank, Wednesday 27th November 2013 Boris Johnson seeks to emulate Thatcher. He appeals to the evil side of the "nasty" party, for a society where greed is good, where selfishness is encouraged, where division amongst people by envy and status is championed as a proper objective and where the excesses of business and government are regarded as appropriate and right for the advancement of the few at the expense of the many. Johnson is an evil man with evil intent...

The corruption of the arms trade.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk-news/2013/jul/28/lockerbie-bomber-libyan-arms-deal "Agreement 'ready for signature' as soon as purchase of air defence system concluded" Tony Blair with Muammar Gaddafi in May 2007 A not very well kept secret, that the British government will make grubby commercial deals with any tyrants or despots, no matter where they are, and will lie to the people and the commons in their attempts to conceal the sordid detail. It almost begs the question as to how much money went into who knows who's pockets as an added sweetener. This whole sleazy morass of greed and corruption stinks to high heaven.
