One third of our people suffer "below-par" living standards, and it is a scandal.

http://www.theguardian.com/society/2014/jun/19/poverty-hits-twice-as-many-british-households Poverty hits twice as many British households as 30 years ago   33% of households endure below-par living standards – defined as going without three or more "basic necessities of life", such as being able to adequately feed and clothe themselves and their children, and to heat and insure their homes. In the early 1980s, the comparable figure was 14%.   Poverty has doubled in the past 30 years. Since 1984 in fact. A date which holds sinister connotations in the minds of many. Since 1984, a succession of Prime Ministers, have presided over a visible decline in living standards for people in this country, whilst at the same time the fortunes, profits and power of a number of corporations and a few individuals have increased beyond levels only imaginable 30 years ago. This transformation of society in the United kingdom has been brought about and propagated by t...

Iain Duncan-Smith caught out again.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/03/06/iain-duncan-smith-dwp-numbers_n_4911277.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Iain Duncan Smith's 'Statistical Foul Play' Exposed For Fourth Time In Year Iain Duncan-Smith It is by now, clear to everyone (except of course David Cameron, who is responsible for appointing this failure), that Iain Duncan-Smith is a political and social liability. Having been exposed on at least 4 occasions as being unable to tell the truth on any area that he has ministerial responsibility for, and being equally  untruthful in his wider political career, this failed Conservative party leader, failed shadow defence secretary, central character in "Betsygate" to mention just a few points from his rather checkered past, continues to occupy a position far above his intellectual and personal capabilities. This reasons for his continued existence is a mystery to all. Many people have been predicting his sacking or resignation for some ti...

Roll up your sleeves and find jobs

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/active/9623053/Roll-up-your-sleeves-and-find-jobs-minister-tells-unemployed.html Jobless people who do not make enough of an effort to find work face a “rude awakening” from tomorrow under new rules which could see them stripped of their benefits for three years. Mark Hoban, the Employment Minister In spite of the latest statistical lies from government and the DOS,  unemployment remains high with hundreds of thousands not being counted for one reason or another. Now Mark Hoban the Employment Minister (Mark who?) with echo's of Tebbit's bike, tells people to roll up their sleeves. Unemployment, recession, inflation and cuts in public expenditure are destroying the fabric of our society and all that this dim wit can offer is cliche's and threats.  We have a government of self opinionated rich morons, who are more interested in maintaining their lavish life styles, taxpayer funded perks and pensions,  and first class trave...

Lies, Damn lies and Government Statistics

http://news.sky.com/story/961678/olympics-give-uk-jobs-market-a-boost    The manipulation of statistics on behalf of governments is nothing new. The way in which inflation figure are calculated and announced always depends upon which set of measurements is most flattering to government policies at that time. RPI or CPI ? It depends on whether there is an r in the month. The art of manipulating figures was not in fact, invented by Thatcher, but it was certainly developed during the 1980's into a very persuasive method of convincing the public into accepting the lies of government in respect of many aspects of British society. If the figures used last month for example, do not show improvement, then change the method of calculation by adding something here or omitting something there until you reach the position that you had decided that  you wanted in the first place, then call it something else, and hey presto, all is well. Previous, and subsequent governments t...
