Another British Industry sacrificed on the altar of Conservative Party economic dogma.

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/oct/21/cameron-accused-of-misleading-steelworkers-over-80m-aid-fund Cameron accused of misleading steelworkers over £80m aid fund   Steel workers at the Tata Steel plant in Motherwell   Thatcher started this destruction of British industry and Cameron continues her evil work. Heavily State subsidised imports from abroad, this time it is steel, are allowed to flood into this country but the government refuses such support to our own industry. As a result, because our own industries are unable to compete with the cheap (on price and quality) imports, the government  allows the plants to close and the workers to be made redundant. The government justification for allowing the extinction of the industry is the fallacious lie that the industry is noncompetitive and "market forces"  must be allowed to determine the outcome. Not only does this country loose the manufacturing facility, it also loses the skills as...

British workers made redundant as State subsidised Chinese steel floods onto our markets and we treat them to a Sate Banquet !

http://www.theguardian.com/business/live/2015/oct/20/steel-crisis-grows-as-tata-unveils-job-cuts-business-live Steel crisis grows as Tata unveils job cuts Hundreds of SSI workers try to find work at a jobs fair in Redcar for steelworkers made redundant . China continues to dump its state subsidised steel onto our markets as another 1200 people at least are made redundant to join the 5000 already announced from the closures of SSI and CAPRO. Against this background Cameron begs for Chinese money for other United Kingdom projects (which will undoubtedly cause even more redundancies for British workers) by welcoming Chinese President Xi Jinping on a state visit to this country. President Xi Jinping and his wife arrive in London for a state visit to Britain The Buckingham Palace ballroom set for a state banquet This evening, the Chinese President and his delegation together with Cameron and other "dignitaries" are being entertained at a l...

British Prime Minister grovelling to serial abusers of human rights and worse.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/david-cameron-seeks-chinese-support-6654559#ICID=sharebar_facebook   David Cameron seeks Chinese support to bomb Syria in talks with president    This is bloody incredible. The British Prime Minister seeking support for intervention in Syria, from the President of a torturing regime, steeped in the blood of hundreds of thousands of people, serial abusers of human rights and civil liberties. Seeking support when the House of Commons has not debated the issue of UK intervention. Seeking support when the Chinese dump steel onto the markets and cause thousands of British workers to be made redundant. The Prime Minister of this country. leaning over backwards in the hope of getting some financial benefit from China in the form of a few more contracts, which will eventually lead to even more British workers being made redundant. A pathetic Prime Minister demonstrating all of his Tory philosophy where money is the ...

What makes a "best friend"?

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/oct/18/britian-has-made-visionary-choice-to-become-chinas-best-friend-says-xi Britain has made 'visionary' choice to become China's best friend, says Xi   We, the United Kingdom that is, seem to have a most bizarre collection of "friends". China, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Israel, India, UAE and Thailand rate amongst the more repressive regimes around the world and have an appalling record of human rights abuses. Yet, these countries, along with a few African republics, seem to be favoured to a greater or lesser extent, as "valued customers" by sections of the United Kingdom business world, particularly in the defence sector where we have large markets for riot and civil disorder equipment, and certainly by British governments who welcome these unsavoury administrations as "great friends and allies". Certainly over recent years, where the "war on terror" has provided justification...

Hypocrisy, greed and profiteering on the death of Saudi King.

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/worldmarkets/oil-surges-after-saudi-kings-death/ar-AA8uAC4  Oil prices surge following the death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Of Saudi Arabia The speculators and parasites never miss any opportunity to make money. The despot of Saudi Arabia dies and the price of oil surges. The connection between two unrelated events will be explained by the pundits as  "the markets do not like uncertainty" All those tankers lying at anchor and full of oil waiting for the right circumstances to unload their cargoes, can now head towards the terminals and discharge the liquid. We can expect the oil companies to announce huge increases in profits at the next round of company announcements and in the meantime, the recent fall in the price of petrol at the pumps will be reversed within days if not sooner. An enlightening perspective on the oil companies, dealers and speculators in a sick and greedy industry. In t...

The stain of Guantanamo Bay remains

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/us-soldier-held-by-taliban-in-afghanistan-freed-after-five-years-9467018.html US soldier held by Taliban in Afghanistan freed after five years    Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. captured since 2009   Best wishes to Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl on being released. However, it is a great shame that the media and world public opinion does not get as aroused about the detainees incarcerated without trial in Guantanamo Bay prison. Some inmates have been incarcerated in Guantanamo for over 12 years, without trial or legal representation. Guantanamo Bay detention camp   While this stain on civil liberties and human rights remains in operation, we should not become overly excited about the release of one Taliban prisoner.

The world has forgotten Bahrain.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/05/16/bahrain-maryam-al-khawaja_n_5337616.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Bahrain's Maryam Al-Khawaja Wants To Tell You About The Arab Revolt We've All Forgotten Maryam al-Khawaja has fled her home, to live in a country where she has no family or community. Her father is serving a life sentence behind bars, her uncle serving five years, and her sister, newly freed from prison, is likely to be jailed again in September. Maryam al-Khawaja is in exile in Denmark   I, and many others, have been shouting about the "forgotten uprising" in Bahrain for over two years. The problem, as is often the case in these situations, is that the western "media" by accident, or more usually by design, choose not to report events presumably to avoid embarrassment to "friendly" governments in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, the United States, with its 5th Fleet in its base at Juffai, the United Kingdom with nu...

Bahrain Grand Prix goes ahead despite protests on the streets.

http://racing.ap.org/article/thousands-rally-bahrain-ahead-auto-race The protests and the race go on. In sport, money is all too frequently far more important than principle. This time it is F1 and the Bahrain Grand Prix at Sakhir. Some time this week, if he has not already benefited, Ecclestone will add a few $ or£ million to his huge bank deposits located around the world, Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the rest of the "Royal" family, will soak up the kudos of this major sporting event, and no doubt collect their fees and expenses. When the trophies are presented after the race, national anthems will be played and there will be much celebration amongst the teams and those in the grandstands, then the whole circus will move onto the next race, the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai on the 20th April. In Bahrain, the protests will continue and for the Al Khalifa clique its back to business as usual. The business of human rights abuses, crus...

Dorset Music Group snubs Bahrain F1 Grand Prix, Bernie Eccleston and the al-Khalifa regime

http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/11094006.VIDEO__Dorset_musical_group_snub_Grand_Prix_over_human_rights_concerns/ Dorset musical group snub Grand Prix over human rights concerns magic drum orchestra  A DORSET musical group has snubbed an invitation to play at a prestigious Formula One Grand Prix over concerns about human rights violations.   A big well done to The Magic Drum Orchestra, for taking a stand against the barbaric al-Khalifa regime and its excesses against the people of Bahrain. On Friday, 20 April 2012, I wrote in this Blog, under the heading of "CANCEL THE BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX " the following text, "Principle is more important that money. Ecclestone and the Bahrain Royal family grab the kudos, while the Bahrain security forces backed by the Saudi forces, continue to oppress and kill  protesters. CANCEL THE BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX " The oppression and civil rights abuses against the people and protestors in Bahrain continues unabated today...

British Royal family condones a barbaric, medieval autocracy

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/02/19/prince-charles-sword-dance-pictures_n_4814227.html?utm_hp_ref=uk#comments  Prince Charles Criticised For Taking Part In Saudi Arabian Sword Dance Prince Charles taking part in an "Ardah"   Perhaps Charles discussed and crticised the Saudi involvement in the savage repression of protestors in Bahrain.(Which remains un reported in the western press and media). The Saudi role in the Syrian civil war was also on the agenda for discussion no doubt as was the bribery and corruption associated with the lucrative arms trade between the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia. For as long as Charles Windsor and the rest of his family support and give comfort to the barbaric regime in Saudi Arabia and other countries with a similar record of repression and abuses of human rights, then so shall such regimes be given a charade of credibility. The Saudi Royal family have been made welcome visitors at Buckingham Palace and Downing Street for...

Another nail in the coffin of civil liberties.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/03/05/secret-court-hearings-civil-liberties-_n_2809154.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Secret Court Hearings: 'A Dark Night For British Justice' As Ministers Reject Safeguards Justice secretary Ken Clarke's plans branded 'disproportionate'   Secret courts where "evidence" can be fabricated but never tested, where the presumption of innocence is transformed into the presumption of guilt, and where "witnesses" would only be a deception. This is a sinister development in the legal system in this country, which ensures that government gains an even stronger stranglehold on civil liberties. Echo's of another totalitarian regime. Hazel Blears Jack Straw    Jack Straw and Hazel Blears supported the government in the introduction of these sinister measures. It demonstrates once again how far the Labour Party has been dragged to the right of British politics over the l...
