The hypocrisy of the Western Powers.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/apr/06/trump-syria-missiles-assad-chemical-weapons Sy ria airstrikes: US targets airfield in first direct military action against Assad Since early 2013, the American government closely followed by the United Kingdom government and with the French governments padding along at their heels like some well rained and obedient poodle, have been desperately seeking some justification, no matter how tenuous, to become involved in the Syrian Civil war. In this odious quest, they have been enthusiastically encouraged and supported by a media and television machine, frantically baying for the removal of Bashar al Assad and the Damascus government. Hidden amongst the rhetoric and disinformation regarding civil rights abuses, humanitarian assistance, chemical weapon programmes and the rest, all spewed out to advocate Western involvement, lies the real reasoning behind the enthusiasm for military intervention. The first and foremost r...

United States abstains on settlements vote.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/dec/24/israel-rejects-shameful-un-resolution-amid-criticism-of-netanyahu Israel rejects 'shameful' UN resolution  In a fit of furious outrage and pique, Benjamin Netanyahu throws his toys from the pram and immediately recalls Israel’s ambassadors to New Zealand and Senegal in addition to stopping all current aid to Senegal.  Settlement in Jerusalem The building of settlements on Palestinian lands occupied by Israel after the 1967 war, has for many years been condemned by the "International Community" and the United Nations as bein g illegal, but Israel has been supported in its defiance of international opinion by successive American administrations. United States abstains Now with no veto from the United States, Netanyahu is absolutely furious today. For probably the first time, the USA has (even if by default) been critical of Israel. They should have gone ...

Samantha Power: hand wringing hypocrisy and emotional insincerity

<iframe src="https://embed.theguardian.com/…/are-you-incapable-of-shame-…" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Samantha Power criticises Syria, Iran and Russia over Aleppo. Samantha Power indulges in the usual mock and overplayed "sincerity" in criticising Russia and Iran in connection with the Aleppo tragedy. It is a bit rich for an America that has on numerous occasions, turned its eyes away from the atrocities inflicted upon the people of Gaza, to ask others the question "Are you incapable of shame?" when they themselves have ignored countless humanitarian crises in other countries. The catastrophe for "the West", is that their allies, "the G ood rebels" in Aleppo have been defeated and that the great plan to bring regime change to Syria with the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad has been set back by years, if not completely derailed. Aleppo The t...

The United States is "deeply troubled"

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/dec/31/palestinian-president-international-criminal-court Palestinian president signs up to join international criminal court Mahmoud Abbas has signed the Rome statute, the ICC’s founding treaty   The United States is, according to the State Department, "deeply troubled" by the Palestinian move to join the international criminal court. Likewise, in Israel Netanyahu said,  Israel would take unspecified “retaliatory steps”. to maintain their occupation of Palestine and the expansion of their "settlement" building program. It will be interesting to see whether the International Criminal Court will cave in to the blackmail, threats and other intimidation that the United States and Israel frequently employ against any country prepared to support the Palestinians, in order to maintain the subjugation of the Palestinian people by occupation, frequent use of military force and blockade. We must hope and trust that the I...

The struggle for statehood continues despite the hostility of some and the acquiescence of others.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/dec/30/un-security-council-rejects-palestinian-statehood-bid UN security council rejects Palestinian statehood bid The UNSC votes against a Palestinian resolution calling for an end to Israeli occupation and for independent Palestine The Americans can, as always, be relied upon to support the Israeli's no matter what the issue may be, for Israel can do no wrong. The Australians, contrary to all public option, press and media coverage, support the Americans and vote against the Palestinian peoples desire for statehood. The United Kingdom, again contrary to large sections of British public opinion, join Rwanda, Nigeria, Lithuania, and South Korea in sitting on the fence and doing nothing. These countries perched on the railings, have abdicated their responsibilities towards Palestine and the possibility of achieving any form of settlement in the region, but have secured for themselves the continuing favour of ...

Creating a monster and making a bad situation even worse.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/war-against-isis-its-started-but-do-we-know-what-were-doing-9760131.html It's started, but do we know what we're doing? Cameron and Obama at United Nations   A contrived "threat", manufactured, exaggerated and hysterically hyped up to suit the hidden agenda of Washington and London to attack Syria via Iraq and ultimately overthrow Bashar al-Assad. "It's started, but do we know what we're doing?" The answer is "No. We have no idea what we are doing. We only know that al-Assad must go and this might be one avenue to help us get rid of him," IS or ISIL or what ever other label you may choose to put on them, is an organisation now controlling in excess of 5 million people, thousands of square miles of territory, significant infrastructure and an industrial and commercial capability which would be envied by many countries around the world. It is also an organisation which until ...

The art of "Double standards"

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/14/iraq-crisis-us-britain-rescue-yazidis-mount-sinjar    Obama was not talking about Palestinians in Gaza.   Barak Obama   The words of Barak Obama demonstrating a true example of the double standard. If we did not know better, we could actually think that he was talking about Palestinians in Gaza. No, he is actually talking about a christian Kurdish minority, seeking refuge on top of Mount Sinjar. He would certainly not wish to upset the Israeli's with comments like,"where countless innocent people are facing a massacre" or even, "when we have the ability to help prevent it – the United States can’t just look away". When it comes to Israel, there is no such word as as hypocrisy. What Obama, "Mr Sincerity" himself actually said was: “When there’s a situation like the one on this mountain – when countless innocent people are facing a massacre, and when we have the ability to help pr...

On Mount Sinjar things are not as bad as feared. Meanwhile, in Gaza.......

That is good news for the Yazidi's. Gaza hospitals in dire need of supplies Meanwhile elsewhere, the siege of Gaza continues. The 500,000 Palestinians remain without shelter, the hospitals remain bursting at the seams with thousands of injured civilians, many of which are children being treated two to a bed, the supply of medicines and medical essentials remains critical and food, water and shelter remain in short supply. wards filled beyond capacity and a never-ending stream of injured In Gaza, it is as bad as feared, but nobody in Washington, London,Paris, the UN security Council or Berlin gives a damn. The attention of the world is being diverted by western media and government hysteria.

What does the writer expect to happen? Is it expected that NATO tanks will smash into Smolensk, Bryansk, Kursk and other towns along Russia western border and race on to Moscow? The destruction of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 and the deaths of all those people on board is a tragedy which must be investigated and where necessary those people responsible must be held to account. However, this consta...

As the world looks the other way.

As the world looks the other way. Malaysia Airlines MH17 G3 gate of Schiphol Airport i Readers are by now aware that on July 17, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flight MH17, crashed in eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board. It has since been established that the most likely cause of the crash was a surface to air missile launched from within the pro-Russian area of eastern Ukraine and probably from pro-Russian rebels holding the area. Since news of the crash became widespread knowledge, reporters from the Western media have been seen on a daily basis filling our television screens with reports from the crash site, Schiphol airport, Kiev, Washington and London. Sky News and BBC News have carried lengthy reports of the crash and analysis of surface-to-air missiles and those persons in eastern Ukraine using them. The front pages of all our newspapers have been full of stories, comment and analysis since last Thursday. It is as if all other stories or...
