Morally Wrong to pay cash, but only to some.

http://news.sky.com/story/964120/mp-paying-tradesmen-in-cash-is-morally-wrong  A Treasury minister has hit out at households who pay tradesmen in cash, saying it is "morally wrong" as it helps workers avoid tax. "Getting a discount with your plumber by paying cash in hand is something that is a big cost to the Revenue and means others have to pay more in tax. Exchequer Secretary David Gauke is a complete pillock. I can negotiate a discount for paying cash with all sorts of businesses. The high street shops are more than willing to reduce prices, sometime by as much as 15% in order to secure business especially in the furniture or white goods products. Car franchises usually offer cash discounts on the purchase of cars and vehicles. When Gauke and his ConDem coalition government has inflicted this pressure on the economy and consumers, there is every reason for the consumer to secure the best deal possible whenever a purchase is made. The privatised comp...

A one way one sided Agreement.

Richard-O-Dwyer-extradition-approved. Leaving aside the question of guilt or innocence Richard O’Dwyer should be tried in the UK in any case, the real issue is a simple one.We have in existence a "one way, one sided" extradition Agreement with the USA and our Home Secretaries of whatever party and the Governments of the day will always comply with American requests for extradition of UK nationals. The instructions from Washington, usually contain some threat, implied or otherwise, that not to comply would result in an American "reassessment" of their providing information, or intelligence data or cooperation in some field or other inducement to grant the "request". The rights and interests of the UK citizen concerned are, of course, secondary to the "National Interest" and the victim of this objectionable Agreement is on the next plane to Washington, clothed in an orange jump suit and manacled to an FBI agent. We however would never be able t...

Deputy PM hits out at millionaires shielded by 'army of accountants'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2112924/Child-benefit-shake-undermine-marriage-lead-fraud.html Clegg is not only an unprincipled hypocrite, he is also an unprincipled Plagiarist. The ideas put forward by Mr Clegg, speaking on the opening day of his party’s spring conference, in respect of lawyers and accountants providing tax avoidance for the rich and powerful (tax evasion is of course illegal), are nothing more than repeating the arguments which I made in speeches back  in 1982!  In other words, this scandal was known then, and every Government since then has done absolutely NOTHING to rectify the practice in 30 years. There is no reason to suppose that anything will be done about by this Government either. This rhetoric is just another exercise in "spin" for the sake of popularity. Clegg and the rest will have forgotten the matter as soon as their Party Conference is over.
