Obama has had Seven years to close Guantanamo, but it is still open for business

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/obama-is-once-again-trying-to-close-gitmo-but-how/ar-BBmR8Oh?li=BBoPH6G Obama Is Once Again Trying to Close Guantanamo Bay prison . But How? Guantanamo Bay prison Obama had a plan to close the military prison in Guantanamo Bay announced on the first day of his Presidency in January 20, 2009. All he got was the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.  Obama with his Nobel Peace Prize. Meanwhile, the stain of Guantanamo Bay remains as an obnoxious breech of civil liberties and an insult to the principle of "due process" in domestic and international law, even today in October of 2016. Obama has done nothing in 7 years but now he has a "new plan". Surely if you are the most powerful man in the world you just have to say " Close Guantanamo Bay now."

The stain of Guantanamo Bay remains

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/us-soldier-held-by-taliban-in-afghanistan-freed-after-five-years-9467018.html US soldier held by Taliban in Afghanistan freed after five years    Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. captured since 2009   Best wishes to Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl on being released. However, it is a great shame that the media and world public opinion does not get as aroused about the detainees incarcerated without trial in Guantanamo Bay prison. Some inmates have been incarcerated in Guantanamo for over 12 years, without trial or legal representation. Guantanamo Bay detention camp   While this stain on civil liberties and human rights remains in operation, we should not become overly excited about the release of one Taliban prisoner.

United Kingdom involvement in rendition and torture exposed,

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/12/19/torture-britain-shocking-rendition_n_4472453.html?utm_hp_ref=uk "Government and the Agencies may have become inappropriately involved in some cases of rendition."   Ken Clarke's speech at the despatch box yesterday (19th December 2013) was interesting. It seems that he had no idea that the United Kingdom had been engaged with the American's in the rendition of people, or in other words, the state kidnapping of people, in countries around the world for years. Presumably he was also unaware of Britain's role in the torture of such detainees and their illegal detention without trial or representation and usually held Incommunicado. We can assume that now that this illegal and barbaric treatment of people has finally been exposed, the practice will immediately cease and those responsible for such crimes will be held accountable in court. Can we?

The Americans spy on everyone.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/10/24/nsa-guardian-35-world-leaders_n_4159208.html?utm_hp_ref=uk#comments NSA Spied On 35 World Leaders The National Security Agency monitored the phone conversations of 35 world leaders The real reason why the Americans are so hysterical in their persecution of Edward Snowden. Bradley Manning, Julian Assange and probably others. It has nothing to do with leaking "state secrets" or  putting the country's intelligence network at risk or compromising "sources". It is and always has been, about embarrassing the American government and the security organisations, by exposing their dubious and illegal intelligence gathering methods and the way in which they assume that they are above the laws of any country, including their own. Edward Snowden   The arrogance of the American establishment is breath taking in their deeply held conviction that they have some automatic right to spy on anyone they choose ...

Romney seeking the Jewish American vote.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/after-a-day-meeting-israel-s-leaders-romney-gives-speech-in-jerusalem-1.454386 After a day meeting Israel's leaders, Romney gives speech in Jerusalem  Romney's staff picked the 150 guests carefully. Religious American immigrants dominated the crowd; secular Jews and native-born Israelis were few and far between. Those present included Jewish-American millionaires, settler leaders like the former chairman of the Yesha Council of settlements Israel Harel, and former Netanyahu aides such as Dore Gold, Naftali Bennett, Ayelet Shaked and Yoaz Hendel. This was not a speech. It was a crass and blatant pitch for the Jewish American vote at the November election, in exchange for the promise of American support for Israel actions against Iran, Palestine and its people and anyone else who criticises or opposes Israeli aggression and barbarism. In other words, Romney said that Israel can do whatever it likes to anyone...

Guantanamo Bay: a stain on human rights

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/ Guantanamo Bay: the biggest stain on human rights the world has ever seen. If these internees are so dangerous, or have committed such evil crimes, they should be put on trial and have the American allegations tested in law. Once again the Americans demonstrate that they consider themselves to be the worlds accuser, judge and jury and are above any measure of international law.
