Sam Gyimah MP, filibusters his own legislation to introduce "Alan Turing's law"

https://www.theguardian.com/law/2016/oct/21/chris-bryant-commons-plea-gay-pardon-law Conservative minister obstructs progression of gay pardon law Sam Gyimah MP Sam Gyimah the Conservative MP for East Surrey and government minister, carried out an outrageous filibuster on Friday (21st October) to scupper progress of the bill to introduce, "Alan Turing's law", despite previous government assurances to implement the change through an amendment to the Policing and Crime Bill. Incredibly, the filibuster was perpetrated by no other than Gyimah himself who ha d given the assurances to implement the changes only two days before. Alan Turing It is an affront to the democratic process that members are allowed to employ such tactics and "talk out" legislation which they or vested interests they represent find unacceptable. It is even more outrageous when those members are government ministers delaying or completely removing their own legislation...

A scurrilous non story.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/oct/16/jeremy-corbyn-antisemitism-chakrabarti-inquiry MPs accuse Jeremy Corbyn of incompetence over anti-Jewish abuse Why is this rag of a newspaper carrying a clearly biased conclusion from a point scoring "committee" who have historically been opposed to the Labour party leadership? The Home Affairs Select Committee, grudgingly concede that there is "no reliable evidence" to support their views, thus leaving the reader to draw their own conclusions as to the motivations of the committee members and the "newspaper" for carrying this scurrilous "non story" "The committee acknowledged that t here was “no reliable, empirical evidence to support the notion that there is a higher prevalence of antisemitic attitudes within the Labour party than any other political party” The Observer rag, no better than the Guardian rag.

Has the Guardian become converted to the tolerance and compromise idea ?

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/23/the-guardian-view-on-the-labour-leadership-wanted-tolerance-and-compromise The Guardian view on the Labour leadership.  Wanted: Tolerance and compromise. Editorial. I read this article twice. The first time, I thought that I had picked up a piece which had strayed into the pages of the Guardian, as if by accident from another newspaper. Only upon the second reading did I realise, with a growing sense of incredulity, that this was in fact a Guardian article and moreover, one written under the heading of, ""Editorial": The Guardian view on the Labour leadership: wanted – tolerance and compromise ". I found the "Editorial" to be a little puzzling, because here they are, calling for , "a collective effort to work together or even merely to coexist tolerantly, based on compromise and mutual respect" when, for the past 12 months or so, the Guardian has been in the v...

Sir Philip Green questioned by MPs over BHS collapse

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/jun/19/sir-philip-green-takes-delivery-of-46m-private-jet-says-media-report?CMP=share_btn_fb#_=_ Sir Philip Green takes delivery of £46m private jet, says media report There is a £571 million "hole" in the BHS pension fund. Green has taken delivery of a Gulfstream G650ER, and a new super yacht, ( a four-storey 90-metre vessel built in Italy that is understood to have cost £100m). Presumably, the pension holders of BHS are a little puzzled at Philip Green's latest additions to his fleet which already boasts, a speedboat, a helicopter and three yachts, to mention just a part of his transport collection. Green’s family received hundreds of millions from BHS in dividends and rent.

Investigations of Tory election fraud claims extended, but little media coverage.

http://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/jun/01/channel-4-leads-the-way-on-tory-election-claims Why is there so little noise about the Tory election fraud claims? Nineteen police forces are currently investigating Tory election fraud  claims The allegations of election fraud are a threat to the conservative party and more importantly to the government. Investigations and prosecutions, which could lead to bye elections and ultimately to the governments loss of its overall majority, must be causing Central Office to have nightmares. Consequently, the conservative hierarchy, Cameron and his gang including those involved in these (alleged) crimes will go to any lengths to disrupt or stop the investigations. Engineering a media "black out" is just one of their tools for this purpose. The recent decisions of the court to grant extension to the investigation time-scale has clearly caused great consternation in conservative circles and they will have to find a ...

Discredited Blair offering more "advice"

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/28/tony-blair-corbyn-government-dangerous-experiment Tony Blair: Corbyn government would be a dangerous experiment Again, Blair crawls out from beneath his stone to be granted publicity from the Guardian. The very rich warmonger, liar and traitor has the audacity to offer yet more "advice" to a party he (along with Mandelson, Campbell and Brown) destroyed. Blair fails to accept that the party he once led, has passed into history and his philosophy is as discredited as he himself is. With the exception of a few duplicitous "Blairite" agitators with the PLP, who yearn for the return of their messiah (or some one in the same mould), Blair has nothing to say to today's party and its leadership.

The "punishment" does not fit the crime

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/may/27/driver-andrew-nay-jailed-crash-paralysed-katrina-karlina-raiba Driver who paralysed sisters in crash is jailed for four and a half years Katrina (L) and Karlina Raiba Only a four year and six months sentence for a horrendous crime. The criminal,  Andrew Nay, will probably be released in two years time to resume a relatively normal life. The two girls involved,  Katrina and Karlina Raiba, now aged eight and six, will endure their injuries every hour of every day for the remainder of their lives. Another example of how there is little justice in many of our courts. If we no room in our prisons to keep such people off our roads, build more prisons. Andrew Nay Andrew Nay should spend the rest of his natural life in custody.

Analysing a campaign by a party which no longer bears any resemblance to the Labour party of today, is a very futile exercise.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/22/labour-activists-in-2015-were-like-middle-class-ryanair-passengers Labour activists in 2015 'were like middle-class Ryanair passengers' Tristram Julian William Hunt How strange it is, or perhaps not that strange,  that a number of the defeated candidates (or others who stood down before the first and only ballot), from the Labour Leadership elections of last year, are now the "leaders" of the concerted efforts within the PLP to grasp every opportunity to to undermine the democratically elected leadership of the party. Amongst these stands Tristram Julian William Hunt, the son of  Baron Hunt of Chesterton and educated at an exclusive Independent School in London, Trinity College Cambridge, University of Chicago and later at Kings College Cambridge. I have nothing against a good education, nor even a semi aristocratic background, but I have great objection where the individuals concerned assume or worse, sincerel...

The "conclusions" in the Jon Cruddas "report" are inconsistent and more importantly, wrong.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/21/poor-outlook-toxic-labour-jon-cruddas-report-welfare-immigration ‘Irrelevant and toxic’ Labour losing out to Ukip, inquiry finds Jon Cruddas. MP for  Dagenham and Rainham At least the "Observer" manages to give an identity to the origin of this story rather than use another anonymous source quoted so often in this "newspaper" and in other parts of the media, when seeking to discredit or undermine the leadership of the Labour party. However, Toby Helm has taken the "report" as an opportunity to add another element to the continuing Observer/Guardian crusade against the Labour leadership, by quoting from the Jon Cruddas "inquiry". Unfortunately for both the Observer and Cruddas, the conclusions drawn in the report (as quoted by this newspaper), are wrong and seem, with a few exceptions, to be more critical of the Labour party of pre 2015 and the "Torylite" policies offering essent...

Going back to the politics of Blair and New Labour is not the way forward

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/13/sadiq-khan-jeremy-corbyn-get-back-habit-winning-elections?CMP=share_btn_fb Sadiq Khan calls on Corbyn to 'get Labour back in the habit of winning elections' If Khan, Cox, Umunna, Cooper, Mann and a few others within the Parliamentary Labour Party really believe that Blair and his philosophy of "New Labour" policies is the only way forward, they should do the honorable thing, resign their Labour party membership and form their own political party in the same way that the "Gang of Four" did in the 1980's.  'New Labour' consigned to the dustbin of history In their own little collection of like minded souls, they can be as conspiratorial, mischievous and hostile towards each other as they choose, in the belief (probably misguided) that the media and press will still follow them around, hanging on every word they may utter, giving them air time and column inches in the vain ...

Criticism of the BBC is growing every day.

http://www.theguardian.com/media/2016/may/12/bbc-bias-labour-sir-michael-lyons?CMP=share_btn_fb#_=_ BBC may have shown bias against Corbyn, says former trust chair Sir Michael Lyons  former chair of the BBC Trust Sir Michael Lyons is right, but uses the word "may have bowed" when everyone knows that the BBC bias against Jeremy Corbyn is rampant. Take the example of the Laura Kuenssberg. Whether the 38 Degrees Petition calling for her to be sacked was "high-jacked" or not, the fact remains that Laura Kuenssberg is a blatantly biased BBC political editor demonstrably hostile to The Labour party generally and Jeremy Corbyn in particular.  Laura Kuenssberg She has no place peddling her own political opinions in television reports where the "news" is usurped by smear, distortion and lies, Whatever may have taken place on Facebook or Twitter, Kuenssberg should still be sacked.

Debate should focus on taking on the Tories, not on personality

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/09/jeremy-corbyn-labour-not-doing-enough-to-win-2020-general-election#comment-73924775 Labour not doing enough to win 2020 general election, says Jeremy Corbyn The Guardian applying the usual slant to promote its own agenda. Rowena Mason and Anushka Asthana, two of the Guardian's “journalists” and known to be hostile to the Labour party leadership, write an article which has become the norm for a “newspaper”, which, i t should be remembered supported Cooper and Kendall in the leadership election, and also joined the "anyone but Corbyn" clique. Anushka Asthana Rowena Mason The Jeremy Corbyn comments, released before a meeting of Labour MPs and peers, demonstrate the recognition that the Labour party has work to do. “We are not yet doing enough to win in 2020.” Corbyn said, “focus on taking on the Tories” and “debates to be...

Another shabby anti Labour "story" from the Guardian

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/08/sadiq-khan-jeremy-corbyn-labour-election-strategy Sadiq Khan widens rift with Corbyn over Labour's 'pick sides' strategy. says the Guardian The Guardian continues its squalid anti Labour party leadership campaign, with another "story",seeking this time, to drive wedges between the new Mayor of London and the Labour party leadership. Heather Stewart Cobbling together a few dregs of information, adding a large helping of personal opinion and throwing in a bucketful of political bias, Heather Stewart manages to write an "article" which sadly has become the norm for a once responsible newspaper. The Guardian and its "journalists" have been intent on bashing the Labour party since the summer of last year. This constant barrage of criticism, smear and mischievousness, will no doubt go on in the hope that the leadership will ultimately be replaced by another regime, more in line wi...

Two naïve backbenchers, adding their "weight" to the media crusade against the Labour party leadership

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/may/06/jeremy-corbyn-leadership-labour-mps-elections "We nominated Jeremy Corbyn. Now we regret it"  Neil Coyle, MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark  Jo Cox. MP for Batley and Spen Jo Cox, the MP for Batley and Spen, first elected in 2015, who nominated Jeremy Corbyn, but voted for the Blairite candidate Liz Kendall in the subsequent leadership election, and Neil Coyle, the MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark also first elected in 2015. today seek out an opportunity to continue the duplicitous plotting against the leadership of the Labour party and Jeremy Corbyn. In their joint article in the Observer, reacting to the local election results of Thursday last (5 th May) they state that the results for Labour could have been much worse, but could and should have been much better. In support of this rather patronising remark, they bizarrely suggest that Labour should have given...
