We should all be thankful that hopefully, Globalisation is in substantial retreat.

http://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/may/23/is-globalisation-dead-borders-closing-banks-in-retreat#comments Borders are closing and banks are in retreat. Is globalisation dead? Anti-globalization protests "Borders are closing and banks are in retreat." Sounds good to me. "Globalisation" has brought only misery, despair and increasing poverty to millions while allowing corporations and a few individuals to become very rich and powerful. If globilisation is dying (or better still dead already) I shall not shed a tear but I will dance on its grave.

Another G conference for promises, food and photo opportunities

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/g20-summit-enter-putin-accompanied-by-four-warships-to-the-sound-of-mockery-9862465.html G20 summit: Enter Putin. Accompanied by four warships. To the sound of mockery There will be around 7000 delegates at the 2014 G20 Conference   Another "G" some number or other gathering for a load of mostly nondescript, non entity politicians to meet together and shake hands, smile and try to give the assembled paparazzi the image of being very, very important. In reality of course, the "G" some number or other will be exactly the same as all the others. An almost endless round of hot air "meetings" usually over snacks, many photo opportunities for the family album, countless promises of financial or economic aid for some country, (which historically has been words promising aid and resulting in only a fraction of the promised assistance), side meetings over sandwiches, not cheese and Branson pickle I woul...

More frothy rhetoric than practical substance

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/09/14/us-and-russia-agree-deal-_n_3925763.html?utm_hp_ref=uk#comments   US And Russia Agree Deal Over Syria's Chemical Weapons  John Kerry Sergey Lavrov    The Syrians were not in Geneva in 2013, in much the same way as the Czechs were not in Munich in 1938. The resultant “agreement” however has the same sort of “peace in our time” ring about it as did the sheet of paper waved in the air at Heston Aerodrome all those years ago. John Kerry and Sergey Lavrov stood behind their respective l ecterns as Kerry presented the 6 point agreement, (after seemingly to forget that number six followed number five), outlining how Syria should produce a list of their chemical weapons within a week, how inspection should start by mid November and how the weapons must be handed over by June next year. At the end of Kerry's presentation, Lavrov chipped in with a vague reference as to how they “ mi...

Should diplomacy fail, the "blame game" is already taking shape.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/diplomatic-plan-to-force-syria-to-surrender-chemical-weapons-already-in-jeopardy-as-russia-and-us-lock-horns-8810074.html Diplomatic plan to force Syria to surrender chemical weapons already in jeopardy as Russia and US lock horns It really is nauseating how the western media, this time the Independant, immediately leap onto the bandwagon of "blame the Russians" if the diplomatic plan fails. "Russia puts deal to avert Syria war in jeopardy ahead of key meeting" screams out from the front page of the Independant, blaming Russia for the contrived French, American and British attempts to claw back initiative in their desperate desire to inflict "punishment" on the Syrian regime. The tactic of making unacceptable demands and blaming the other side for the failure of diplomacy is not a new one. The  Austro-Hungarian Ultimatum to Serbia of 23 July, 1914 is a classic example. The real French/America...

Crass and repugnant.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/syria-civil-war-barack-obama-tries-to-rally-waverers-ahead-of-congress-vote-on-us-strikes-8803988.html Barack Obama tries to rally waverers ahead of Congress vote on US strikes Desperation of a President.   The most crass and repugnant form of propaganda to be used by the United states to encourage an act of aggression against another country. Repugnant and sinister persuasion of the American people. "Videos of gas victims deployed along with a media campaign and proxies to persuade public to back Syria military action"

Breathtaking hypocrisy.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/sep/08/syria-john-kerry-un-resolution?commentpage=6 John Kerry careful not to rule out return to UN for Syria resolution                                                                    The hypocrisy of the whole clamour by the west to attack Syria is is nauseating, not only in the way that lies, distortion and half truth is being turned into "irrefutable evidence" but also in the complete disregard of equally obscene ...

11 countries sign American "statement".

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/sep/06/obama-alliance-assad-chemical-weapons  Obama assembles fragile alliance blaming Assad for chemical attacks   The usual suspects queue up at the G20, as they queue at the UN to line up behind the Americans in some  hope of currying favour and aid from Uncle Sam. Noticeable on the list are Saudi Arabia and Turkey both of which have a questionable history in their treatment of minority groups and opposition within their own borders. However, when it comes to hypocrisy, the western world with their holier than thou public statements and their Middle East camp followers, have few equals. Incidentally, it seems strange that Cameron can sign this scrap of paper on behalf of the United Kingdom, when the House of Commons voted against supporting an American escapade into Syria. Well Mr Cameron, you certainly did not sign it on my behalf.
