Enough of this hysterical nonsense

http://style.uk.msn.com/royal-baby/how-will-the-royal-baby-look-as-he-grows-up Media generated hysteria.                           This is too much. For the last 36 hours (thought it seems more like 36 days) there has been wall to wall news coverage, media and television comment and reporting, with Sky News taking first prize for frenzied minute by minute reporting from the Palace, the hospital, from a village somewhere in England, from the studio and anywhere else that Burley, Botting and company could stick a microphone into some obscure "celebrity's" face and ask for yet another banal quote. All this galvanising the mass hysteria of some elements of the public, (who the media would have you believe is the reaction of "the whole world",) with their flag waving, dancing, singing and cheering over what is after all, no more than a woman having a bab...

Comment on a matter of public interest

Comment on a matter of public interest  Yesterday, (Tuesday 4th December 2012) I published a comment under the heading of “Ending the media speculation” which was my reflection on the media and television coverage of the announcement that the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant. Ending the media speculation.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/dec/03/duke-and-duchess-of-cambridge-expecting-baby Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announce they are expecting first baby Duke and Duchess of Cambridge  Congratulation, good luck, nice one Kate, etc etc blah blah blah. Now having got rid of the sicky bits, can we please get back to reality and concentrate on the real issues that face us every day. Economic crisis, government cuts, austerity, heat or eat dilemma for many people, Palestine, War mongering Israel, climate change and all the other issues which should demand our attention rather than the diversion of an unhealthy obsession with matters "royal". I for one do not want hourly updates on the condition, breakfast menu, afternoon visitors etc of a pregnant woman for the next six or seven months, as so beloved reporting from our television and printed "media".
