Conservatives lost more council seats than Labour in UK local elections

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/uk-elections-2016-results-in-full-council-seats-conservative-tory-labour-jeremy-corbyn-a7019041.html Despite all the attention on local elections as a test of Jeremy Corbyn's leadership, the Conservatives have lost more council seats than Labour It is not really surprising, how the unlikely bed fellows of some elements of the PLP and the media generally can ignore fact, in pursuit of their own agenda's to remove the leadership of the Labour party. It is a campaign which has been raging since the summer of last year, but with the predicted loss of 200+ Labour council seats failing to materialise, the combined “anti Corbyn” conspirators are faced with, for them, the worrying probability that that are and have been wrong and that the Labour leadership enjoys more support amongst ordinary people than they could possibly imagine. The reality that the Conservatives lost more council seats than Labour, must have come as a grea...

Debate should focus on taking on the Tories, not on personality

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/may/09/jeremy-corbyn-labour-not-doing-enough-to-win-2020-general-election#comment-73924775 Labour not doing enough to win 2020 general election, says Jeremy Corbyn The Guardian applying the usual slant to promote its own agenda. Rowena Mason and Anushka Asthana, two of the Guardian's “journalists” and known to be hostile to the Labour party leadership, write an article which has become the norm for a “newspaper”, which, i t should be remembered supported Cooper and Kendall in the leadership election, and also joined the "anyone but Corbyn" clique. Anushka Asthana Rowena Mason The Jeremy Corbyn comments, released before a meeting of Labour MPs and peers, demonstrate the recognition that the Labour party has work to do. “We are not yet doing enough to win in 2020.” Corbyn said, “focus on taking on the Tories” and “debates to be...

We, and the people we represent, must not allow the hypocrites, liars and mountebanks to gain control of our party.

http://news.sky.com/story/1688489/labour-frontbenchers-may-quit-over-row Some Labour frontbenchers are threatening to resign A Times article, enthusiastically reproduced and embellished by Sky News and other media (and all full of the usual anonymous "sources"), graphically confirming that the real reason behind the furore over "anti Semitism" is the seditious conspiracy by some members of the Parliamentary Labour Party, encouraged and supported by sections of a duplicitous media, to remove the leadership of the Labour Party in some sort of coup. A coup which has been in preparation since the summer of last year and now uses the smokescreen of anti Semitism to mask the real intentions. Duplicitous hypocrites, liars and mountebanks skulking in the shadows hiding behind press anonymity. Should these people actually quit, it would be a case of good riddance, and take your schemes, plots and conspiracies with you and join another party.

Not very subtle censorship

A set of guidelines applied as a  "catch all" blanket to suppress comment. It seems that I have upset some "moderators" on the Guardian. Now, whenever I choose to put a comment into the "comments" section against any story, I am met by the phrase "Your comments are currently being pre-moderated (why?)", then when going to the explanations, the Guardian says "....in isolated situations, a particular user may be identified as a risk, based on a pattern of behaviour (e.g. spam, trolling, repeated/frequent borderline abuse), so a temporary filter can be applied....". I have no recollection of offending these "rules" imposed by the faceless moderators of this newspaper, and apart from being critical of the government and certain elements within the Parliamentary Labour Party and of course actively supporting Jeremy Corbyn both in his leadership campaign and now as leader, can only assume that the editorial policy of t...

The 2015 General Election Campaign begins.

Has David Cameron really created 1,000 jobs a day? We don’t endorse Miliband, say firms quoted in advert  Nick Clegg pledges improvements to mental health care     On the first full day of campaigning for the General election, the three main parties trotted out the usual headline grabbing “policy statements” to add to the headline grabbing policy statements which they have been trotting out for the past months. There are others of course The arrogance of Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat politicians who claim that they and only they have the solutions to all of the UK's problems, and promise "vote grabbing" fixes. How many times have we been told during the last few weeks that either Cameron or Miliband will be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom ? As it happens, with our unique and unfair “First Past the Post” voting system, it is probably correct, but it leaves us with the awful prospect that we shall have on...

The terminal decline of "English" English.

Now the "Americanism" is now part of our language. Do you? Another Americanism creeps into use on television, on the BBC News as well as SKY . Even the media are caught up in this swing towards the American rather than the usual UK use of words and phraseology.  This time it seems we now use the word "homicide" rather than the UK English "murder" to refer to unlawful killing. Not that the word "homicide" is wrong, it is just not what we have historically used to describe that crime. Too many American "cop" shows on television have no doubt ingrained the "American" language into the minds of the viewer who now accept and even use the phraseology in their everyday lives. Kojak, Colombo, LA Law, Miami Vice and others, even going back to Dragnet, have been littered with variations ad nauseum, of the  the "I am lootenant Colombo LA Police Homicide" introduction of the character. Even the British Police seem to b...

This may be a case for the Press Complaints Council.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/11/06/lexi-hudson-dog-death_n_4223396.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Reports: The pictures of the dog in this article are not of the dog which attacked Lexi. Lexi Hudson It has been reported on Sky News and on BBC News 24, that the dog pictured in this article and widely circulated around the press and other media, is NOT the dog which attacked Lexi. If this is in fact the case, then it is in extremely bad taste to publish it at all simply to create dramatic effect. Another example of media excesses

Cameron's bizarre resistance to Leveson recommendations.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/03/14/leveson-report-labour-and-lib-dems-criticise-david-cameron_n_2877462.html?1363291178&utm_hp_ref=uk  Cameron calls off talks on press reform. Cameron called a press conference to explain his decision Lord Justice Leveson with his inquiry report   There is something quite sinister in the way that Cameron continues to defy overwhelming evidence and opinion, and renage on his previous commitments to implement the Leveson recommendations. It has been felt for some time that there is a hidden agenda somewhere, probably put together behind closed doors during cosy little sessions at Chequers or even at Number 10 and known only to Cameron and a few carefully selected confidants. It is clearly evident from numerous other examples that the concept of "Self Regulation" does not work. For Cameron to argue that statutory underpinning of regulation as proposed by Leveson would somehow re...

Why is Cameron so set against Leveson recommendations?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2013/mar/09/leveson-report-press-victims-government-vote Campaigners write letter urging government to end talks with editors and act on report recommendations   A House of Lords amendment to the Defamation Bill,  introduced by Lord Puttnam, aims to bring in press regulation   Why is Cameron so set against the recommendations of the report? His prevarications and delaying moves, "...he is expected to block it to prevent a likely government defeat", are clearly indicative of a private agenda. Cameron should beware. The consequences for being closely involved with the media can be very damaging as many have found to their cost.

The issue is extradition not "sex crimes".

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/02/15/julian-assange-ecuadorian-embassy-police-costs-_n_2696532.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Metropolitan Police officers have been stationed outside the Ecuadorian embassy in Knightsbridge around the clock since June last year. It has cost taxpayers £2.9 million. Julian Assange  We seem to be loosing sight of the real issues here, and the British media and television are instrumental in leading the diversions. The fact of the matter is simple. The United States want Julian Assange in the dock standing next to Bradley Manning. It would be easier for Assange to be extradited from Sweden than here, therefore the objective is to remove Assange from the UK and get him to Stockholm. If Assange has sex questions (no charges have yet been made) to answer, then the Swedish authorities should come here to carry out an interview. There have always been contradictory features surrounding the allegations but the smoke and mirrors crea...

A vaneer of enthusiasm.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2012/sep/22/coalition-cuts-nick-clegg-aide#post-area Liberal Democrats now the fourth party in British politics behind Ukip.   Never mind the TV images of a hundred or so  Liberal Democrat's chanting and waving banners purporting to demonstrate how much Nick is a loved and respected leader. The reality is that the Brighton Conference is full of many gloomy and worried people. Some are even prepared to admit that Clegg is a disaster and that forming a coalition with Cameron's Tories, was a grave mistake. The pity is that the price of allowing a few self centered hypocrites to gain a seat in the cabinet, is a price that is being paid by students, disabled, un employed, sick, and many of those still fortunate enough to have work. The deceipt and duplicity of Clegg and the rest, will not be quickly forgotten.

The conclusion of the Egyptian revolution? Not quite.

http://www.guardian.co.uk   Muslim Brotherhood candidate's win is the best outcome of an election that leaves the military as the power behind the throne  Within hours of the result being declared, and while our television screens were still showing the scenes from Tarir Square, William Hague, the Foreign Secretary, the US State Department, the Daily Mail and many of its readers comments were leaping in with their “advice/instructions”, as to how the new President of Egypt should manage the country. This mind set is primarily associated with an almost obsessive compulsion in the west and with the larger part of the western media, to immediately conclude that any title of a party or group which contains the word Muslim, or Islamist is automatically hostile and must be isolated. The fact that Muslim Brotherhood was a banned organisation and the new President Mohammed Morsi spent many years in prison under the Mubarak regime, indicates the extent to which w...

Extradition of Julian Assange

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/may/30/    (There are no "comments" provided for this story in the Guardian)  Hiding behind the facade of sham legality, the establishment moves towards the extradition of Julian Assange. The whole purpose of this charade is to comply with the American demand that he be deported via Sweden, to face "trial" in the US. This has nothing to do with alleged "sexual assault" charges. It is all about the embarrassment of the  US and its dubious practices being exposed for public scrutiny. "Don't shoot the messenger" one placard said, but the Americans are not interested in anything other than putting Bradley Manning and Julian Assange on trial and Europe is a willing accomplice in the conspiracy.

Greece today in the grips of austerity

http://news.sky.com/home/world-news/article/16232020 How easy it is for millionaires like Cameron and Co, or Merkel or the IMF to preach to ordinary people that there is no alternative to austerity. The story of Eletharias shown here, is not uncommon and similar stories will be repeated across Europe. This is the situation in Greece NOW, with austerity and all its associated hardship for the people of Greece.

Democracy trumps austerity but will the euro survive?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business  The only people who really give a monkeys whether or not the Euro survives are the bankers, Eurozone financiers, Angela Merkel, Brussels, the European politicians who are more interested in their personal position and future prospects in ot her fields, the speculators and some people who actually believe the doom and gloom propaganda trotted out by the media. The people of Europe who are paying the price every day for the incompetence and greed of the aforementioned groups who are in fact responsible for this crisis anyway, are now rejecting the politics of austerity and the "establishment" are horrified.

Hypocrisy from the right.

Held-ransom-1-000-tanker-drivers-Petrol-stations-face-closure-half-unions-members-vote-strike.html#comments "Held to ransom by 1,000 tanker drivers." The usual hysterical headlines from at least one part of the media. THE BANKERS AND THE FINANCIAL SPECULATORS CAN AND DO, HOLD THE COUNTRY TO RANSOM TIME AFTER TIME, AND NOBODY SAYS A WORD! AS SOON AS PEOPLE, IN ANY FIELD, TAKE A STAND THE RABID RIGHT COME CRAWLING OUT OF THE WOODWORK WITH THE USUAL "SACK THE WORKERS" RANT.
