John Bolton with yet another harebrained scheme.

http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2015/05/25/412714/Bolton-US-Sunni-state-Iraq-Syria Bolton says US should make new Sunni state out of Iraq, Syria     Former ambassador to the UN John Bolton Having already screwed up the entire Middle East with half baked ideas and constant meddling since 1917, yet another piece of interference, this time from Boulton an American who got it all wrong about Iraq and who's expertise on foreign affairs seems restricted to a 45 square mile area around Waco. As hard and distasteful as it may prove to be, the sooner "western" politicians, advisers, pundits, retired generals and other experts take their noses out of the middle east and its inter related problems, then the sooner the people of the area will be able to reach their own solutions.

It is not just a conflict between Sunni and Shia.

In recent years, United States foreign policy in the region has compounded and amplified an already volatile environment and made the situation even worse. When drawing artificial borders to give effect to the Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1915/1916, the map makers did not understand, or completely ignored, all those factors which since the beginning of time, have been taken as the demarcation lines between countries. Borders have historically foll...

Blair and Gaddafi conspired over dissidents.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/jan/23/-sp-blair-gaddafi-letter-thanks-spy-cooperation-libya-uk-dissidents  Revealed: how Blair colluded with Gaddafi regime in secret This revelation should come as no surprise to anyone. Blair was involved in and even instigated numerous breaches of human rights and abuses of power ranging from renditions, Guantanamo Bay and illegal invasions to stopping criminal investigations into corruption and the excesses of government departments . He is perhaps one of the most culpable alleged war criminals never to have faced trial and yet he still exerts influence in British political and social circles. His involvement in the Middle East, both in his role as "Peace Envoy" and his cosy relationship not only with Gaddafi, but also with other equally repugnant regimes in the region are well known and have been the subject of comment and speculation for many years. Today, notwithstanding all the mounting evidence to the contrary,...

Creating a monster and making a bad situation even worse.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/war-against-isis-its-started-but-do-we-know-what-were-doing-9760131.html It's started, but do we know what we're doing? Cameron and Obama at United Nations   A contrived "threat", manufactured, exaggerated and hysterically hyped up to suit the hidden agenda of Washington and London to attack Syria via Iraq and ultimately overthrow Bashar al-Assad. "It's started, but do we know what we're doing?" The answer is "No. We have no idea what we are doing. We only know that al-Assad must go and this might be one avenue to help us get rid of him," IS or ISIL or what ever other label you may choose to put on them, is an organisation now controlling in excess of 5 million people, thousands of square miles of territory, significant infrastructure and an industrial and commercial capability which would be envied by many countries around the world. It is also an organisation which until ...

How the man without credibility or legitimacy becomes the "Good Guy"

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/west-poised-to-join-forces-with-assad-in-face-of-islamic-state-9686666.html West poised to join forces with Assad in face of Islamic State Bashar al-Assad   While we will be giving weapons and support to the FSA at the same time presumably. A truly remarkable piece of hypocritical contrivance. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last, when the arms trade has managed to sell weapons in this case via the UK government, to all sides in a conflict. Eighteen months ago we were arming a group, which is now called the Islamic State, as well as the Free Syrian Army, and numerous other splinter groups because they were opposing and seeking to remove Bashar al_Assad, a dictatorial President, who we said, who had "lost all credibility and legitimacy" as the leader of Syria. The British and the American governments were desperate (and still are, but that will have to wait as circumstances have now changed), ...

The art of "Double standards"

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/14/iraq-crisis-us-britain-rescue-yazidis-mount-sinjar    Obama was not talking about Palestinians in Gaza.   Barak Obama   The words of Barak Obama demonstrating a true example of the double standard. If we did not know better, we could actually think that he was talking about Palestinians in Gaza. No, he is actually talking about a christian Kurdish minority, seeking refuge on top of Mount Sinjar. He would certainly not wish to upset the Israeli's with comments like,"where countless innocent people are facing a massacre" or even, "when we have the ability to help prevent it – the United States can’t just look away". When it comes to Israel, there is no such word as as hypocrisy. What Obama, "Mr Sincerity" himself actually said was: “When there’s a situation like the one on this mountain – when countless innocent people are facing a massacre, and when we have the ability to help pr...

On Mount Sinjar things are not as bad as feared. Meanwhile, in Gaza.......

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/aug/14/iraq-evacuation-of-yazidis-on-hold-as-us-says-situation-has-stabilised Evacuation of Yazidis on hold as White House declares siege is over things are not as bad as initially feared says a Pentagon spokesman On top of Mount Sinjar things are not as bad as initially feared says a Pentagon spokesman. That is good news for the Yazidi's. Gaza hospitals in dire need of supplies Meanwhile elsewhere, the siege of Gaza continues. The 500,000 Palestinians remain without shelter, the hospitals remain bursting at the seams with thousands of injured civilians, many of which are children being treated two to a bed, the supply of medicines and medical essentials remains critical and food, water and shelter remain in short supply. wards filled beyond capacity and a never-ending stream of injured In Gaza, it is as bad as feared, but nobody in Washington, London,Paris, the UN security Council or Berlin gives a damn. Déjà vu in Iraq and the changing map of the Middle East.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iraq-crisis-islamic-state-weakened-by-us-airstrikes-claims-pentagon-9662819.html Britain to send Tornado jets to Iraq as Cameron considers arming Kurdish fighters RAF Hercules delivering aid in northern Iraq Thousand are still trapped on the mountain There is a growing sense of déjà vu about the latest crisis in Iraq. The plight of those Yazidi civilians trapped on Mount Sinjar, certainly demands that the world take some humanitarian actions to supply food, water and shelter until such times as the remaining people there can be evacuated. The advances made by ISIL forces over the last few weeks have been truly remarkable and the allegations of atrocities carried out by the advancing army are clearly provoking demands for some form of military reaction from western governments. Without wishing to dismiss such reports out of hand however, we should bear in mind that allegations of atrocities ...

The changing borders in the Middle East.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iraq-crisis-isiss-declaration-of-an-islamic-state-is-a-threat-to-the-entire-middle-east-claims-pm-nouri-almaliki-9580085.html   Isis's declaration of an Islamic state is a threat to the entire Middle East, claims PM Nouri al-Maliki   Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki   The ruling factions of existing Middle East countries, supported by the Americans and "the West", are struggling desperately to retain their position and influence in the region. Ironically, by supporting "moderate" factions in the civil war in Syria, against the regime of Bashar al_Assad in the hope of installing a more pro western administration in Damascus, the efforts of Washington and London, are in fact assisting the Isis/Sunni campaign in Iraq, against Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki and his ruling clique of Shia dominated government. The sending of hundreds of American "advisers" can only delay the inevitable...

Creating an atmosphere of fear and alarm to justify intervention.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/06/22/syria-jihadis-isis-britain_n_5518919.html?utm_hp_ref=uk  British Jihadists Plotting Attacks In The UK After Fighting In Syria Cressida Dick. Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner The press, the "establishment" and the television media continue to pour out hysterical nonsense regarding the "threat" to this country from "Jihadists", "Radicalised" Islamists, "Brainwashed" Terrorists, Extremists and all the other cliche ridden descriptions, emanating from "veterans " returning from Syria and "who are intent on carrying out terrorist attacks here". The purpose of these lurid tales of impending doom for the population in this country, is to ensure a mindset of fear and mistrust prevails in ordinary people, and that the overriding desire for renewed intervention in the Middle East still very much to the forefront of many politicians, both here and in the United St...

Expediency is always at the centre of American foreign policy.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iraq-crisis-exclusive-us-rules-out-military-action-until-pm-nouri-almaliki-stands-down-9547311.html US rules out military action until PM Nouri al-Maliki stands down Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki Nouri al-Maliki was practically installed by the United States as Prime Minister of Iraq following the overthrow of Saddam Husein. In 2006, following close U.S. involvement in the selection of a new prime minister, al-Maliki's name arose from the four that had been interviewed by the CIA.  United States Ambassador to Iraq said that "AL-Maliki's reputation is as someone who is independent of Iran." As Saddam was installed, supported and then removed by the United States, so al-Maliki suffers the same fate. Once you have served your purpose, the United States has no qualms in removing or dumping you. British politicians should take note. The "Special Relationship" is a myth

The slippery slope to full scale intervention.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/iraq-crisis-us-urgently-deploys-hundreds-of-armed-troops-9542131.html US urgently deploys hundreds of armed troops    Secretary John Kerry.   The U.S. is urgently deploying several hundred armed troops in and around Iraq and considering sending an additional contingent of special forces soldiers as Baghdad struggles to repel a rampant insurgency. Tulsa World. America sends hundreds of troops into Iraq to protect the US embassy and to "safeguard American personnel and other interests in Baghdad". This deployment, not withstanding Whitehouse assertions to the contrary , may be seen as a precursor to an even greater involvement of American military personnel in defiance of domestic public opinion. It is not without precedent in American military history, as US involvement in Viet Nam began with the deployment of "military advisers" to prop up a failing administration in Saigon, leading to a f...
