The attempts at deception should at least be credible

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/russia-helping-is-by-hitting-opposition/ar-BBnDA5V?li=AAaeUIW&ocid=U142DHP Russia 'Helping IS By Hitting Opposition'(says Sky News)   More absolute bollox, enthusiastically reported and endorsed by Sky News. Anything, no matter how absurd, which supports the "Pro Western, Pro Syrian opposition, anti Russian" line will be hyped up, exaggerated and promoted in the hope that some elements of the "gung ho" public will actually accept this claptrap as truth and "spread the word" to others. Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and our media, also wish us to believe that all the civilians killed in Syria over the past weeks, have been killed by Russian bombing and that there have been no casualties (apart from ISIS that is) resulting from British, American, French or other Coalition airstrikes. It seems that Russian bombs and missiles are the only ones which have killed Syrian men, women and children. H...

The euphoria surrounding a new warship.

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/jul/04/hms-elizabeth-naming-ceremony-hailed-pro-union-occasion  Britain's largest ever warship, a vast aircraft carrier, has been welcomed into the Royal Navy. HMS Queen Elizabeth, a four-acre, 65,000-tonne warship   The euphoria in the shipyard and the ceremony of christening this ship, has filled our media and television screens. Even before the bottle of Islay malt whiskey had smashed into the hull, (it used to be champagne but the symbolism of "scotch" has not been lost), the hyperbole's had been coming fast and furious. The new flagship is Britain's largest ever warship,  "a source of inspiration and hope for us all", "a national instrument of power", a national icon to all, and will help to keep the great in Great Britain,". The 280-metre-long and 56-metre-tall HMS Queen Elizabeth cost a mere £3 billion and will be the flagship of the British fleet. Another super carrier, the ...

Economic lunacy. The Government saves a few £millions and it costs the country £billions.

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/feb/16/flood-area-defences-funding-cuts Flood area defences put on hold by government funding cuts   David Cameron visiting a flood-hit area   Has anyone ever thought that the spending cuts have not contributed to the present disastrous conditions in the Thames Valley or the Somerset levels, or any of the numerous other locations around the country? Successive governments, but predominately this current ConDem coalition disaster, save £millions with their budget cuts, and it costs the country £billions in flood damage, farming losses and disruption to travel and transport with a huge repair bill to come. It has also resulted in immeasurable hardship and suffering for thousands of people who have seen considerable damage, or even complete destruction of their homes and businesses, the loss of sometimes irreplaceable possessions and disruption of their lives for months if not years to come. Funding cuts for essential s...

The "Blamegame" creates a smokescreen but cannot conceal the truth.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/10630499/David-Cameron-warns-flooding-victims-they-are-in-for-long-haul.html     More storms bring flooding threat to Home Counties and London      Village of Moorland in Somerset   Disregard all the rhetoric, finger pointing, mud slinging blame game nonsense. Forget the photo opportunity tours by Cameron, Smith, Clegg, Patterson (Pre op version), Hammond and the rest and today to be joined by Miliband and no doubt others to follow, all designed more for PR than solution. The bottom line to all this rhetoric, comment and hand wringing "sympathy, is a simple one. It will be stated by people standing up to their thighs in flood water outside their homes, It will be repeated by Environmental Agency workers as they continue the battle against ever rising water levels laying sand bags and fitting pumps where the rivers should be. It will be stated by railway workers as they try to repair sto...

Privatisation causing chaos.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/ministry-of-defence-shakeup-in-chaos-over-conflicts-of-interest-8723165.html Ministry of Defence shake-up in chaos over conflicts of interest  The Defence Secretary, Philip Hammond     Another government "privatisation plan" causing chaos. This time its the turn of the £14bn defence agency that buys the armed forces’ tanks and missiles which is in crisis, due to potential "conflicts of interest". The track record of this governments obsession with privatisation is littered with mistakes, costly errors and un foreseen consequences. All this, in the pursuit of selling our assets to their friends in business and industry, in exchange for covert funding and favour in the boardroom. Thirty pieces of silver have never been so tarnished.
