The unacceptable face of Capitalism gets away with it again.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/feb/28/philip-green-agrees-pay-363m-bhs-pension-fund Philip Green agrees to pay £363m into BHS pension fund Green agrees to pay "up to" £363 million, which is just over half (but only just) of the sum he took in dividends and other payments from BHS before selling the company for £1. It remains to be seen whether he repays this money or even part of it, now or at some time in the future. The 19000 BHS pension holders will receive a slightly better deal than they would otherwise have received, the Pension Regulator has now halted enforcement action and the MP's Committee led by Frank Field have grudgingly welcomed the "settlement". The bottom line of course is that Green has "got away with it" as he looks certain to retain his title (though not in my book) he keeps his yachts, helicopters and fleet of luxury limousines, his luxury apartments and his substantial bank balances. Jeremy Hunt contributes to the Elderly Care debate.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/08/24/elderly-care-_n_3808625.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Care For Elderly Relatives? You Should Get Time Off Work, Says Hunt Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt   Clearly, another case of yet another government minister operating mouth before brain. (This seems to be a common phenomenon on the ConDem coalition.) Care for elderly relatives is not, as Mr Hunt seems to think, an activity which can be performed for short periods of time, organised to fit in with a normal working day, albeit a day of flexible hours.Taken to its logical conclusion, Hunt's proposal would require the "carer" to give up employment to provide the relative with anywhere near an adequate level of care. Would the government provide financial or other support for those choosing to provide care rather than work in paid employment? Somehow I think not.

What is a "wealthy pensioner".

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/04/29/ed-miliband-winter-fuel-benefits-pensioners_n_3177367.html?utm_hp_ref=uk Ed Miliband has suggested the Labour Party would consider withdrawing benefits such as the winter fuel allowance and free bus passes from wealthier pensioners. “Means testing is being used to divide and rule—to pit young people against pensioners. But the real divide isn’t between young and old, it’s between rich and poor.”   We have been here before. What is a "wealthy pensioner". How is "wealth" defined? Living in a large private house, but having only a state pension as income, can hardly be described as "wealthy". On the other hand, a couple living in private or social rented accommodation, both drawing state pensions and where perhaps one of the partners has income from an occupational pension plus a private pension, would have a far larger disposable income than many. Clearly there would have to be some means of comp...

Never ending energy price hikes.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2012/oct/12/npower-british-gas-raise-prices  Protests as two energy suppliers announce price increases – of up to 9% – on same day Heat or eat? The greedy parasitic energy companies are falling over themselves to hike their prices again and rip of the long suffering consumers. We were sold the lie that "Privatisation increases efficiency and drives down prices" when this lot of thieves were given cash generating machine of providing us with gas and electricity back in the 80's. There is no evidence since then of prices being forced down. Quite the opposite in fact. Since these money grabbing tyrant took over the supply of our energy, there has be a relentless upwards movement of the prices, sometimes twice per year, as greed became the driving force. There is no point in relying on the "Watch dogs" as they are toothless puppies with lots of words, but no action. The privatised companies have demonstrated a complete dis...

Answer the question Nick.

http://news.uk.msn.com/uk/clegg-may-target-wealthy-pensioners-2 Nick Clegg suggested wealthy pensioners' handouts should be cut to help balance the books. Clegg still trotting out garbage. This latest piece of verbiage is not new however. Earlier in the year, June in fact, in the Guardian, the following article appeared: "Nick Clegg backs benefit cuts for better-off pensioners Intervention comes after reports that Iain Duncan Smith is pressing for cuts to £5bn bill for elderly benefits" On Thursday 7th June 2012, under the heading of "Clegg attacks pensioner" I wrote the following on this Blog. "What is a "better off pensioner"? Is the numbskull Clegg is talking about the 65 year old who has a state pension plus a substantial private pension or is he talking about the 65 year old who has a state pension plus a small private pension only? At what level of private pension income would a person have their benefits cut? As usual t...

Saving money is the real reason.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2182388/Families-told-help-care-elderly-relatives-rely-NHS.html   Lord Darzi, said the state should ‘demand’ people take ‘greater responsibility’ for the health and social care of themselves and their families. The House of Lords, seems to be populated with pea brained morons who occasionally wake up from their almost  perpetual state of semi comatose slumber to issue words of meaningless, ill informed garbage, before slipping back into their torpid state to dream about their next method of claiming expenses. For the benefit of Darzi , to read on his next visit to the real world, the majority of families already help to care for their elderly relatives. For those families who do not, it is of little value for Darzi to stamp his foot and mumble that, " the state should ‘demand’ people take ‘greater responsibility" etc., without sharing with us what measures the state should use to ensure that this happens. If...

Their hidden agenda

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/  Cameron to urge debate on welfare pay-outs. THE REAL OBJECTIVE IS TO DISMANTLE THE WHOLE WELFARE SYSTEM IN THE UK. Cameron, Duncan Smith,Osborne and the rest of the evil conspirators in the Tory ranks should really come clean and stop fishing for public support by popular sound bites. Their real objective in the medium to long term, is the complete scrapping and destruction of the welfare system in this country.

Clegg attacks pensioners.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2012/jun/06/ What is a "better off pensioner"? Is the numbskull Clegg is talking about the 65 year old who has a state pension plus a substantial private pension or is he talking about the 65 year old who has a state pension plus a small private pension only? At what level of private pension income would a person have their benefits cut? As usual the glib comment is only for consumption by the "lets cut everything" lobby, who see another "soft target" for their assault on the people of this country. It is easy for people like Clegg to have philosophical discussions over large brandies in the Millionaires Club in Piccadilly, while the rest of us choose heat or eat. Glegg, the two faced hypocrite who prostituted himself and his party for a seat in cabinet.

Another Tory con trick

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/osbornes- The expression on his face says it all .The smile of the 21st Century Uriah Heap. Not content with robbing us blind with tax increases and service cuts, Osbourne now tries to sell us another con trick in the same mold as privatisation. The Chancellor has told Treasury officials to find ways to persuade savers to transfer billions of pounds in to new government "growth bonds". Another pot for these parasitic ConDems to plunder for their own bailouts when ever the time suits them. Our money is safer stuffed into a mattress or left where it is, rather than allowing these thieving highway men to get their grubby paws on it.

The price of austerity

http://news.sky.com/home/world-news This is the reality of what Eurozone enforced austerity measures mean to 70 year old Eletharias...........""Since my pension was cut, I can't buy food so I look through the garbage," he said, "I can only pray that things get better."He is among an increasing number of pensioners who have slipped into desperate poverty and rely on waste food to survive.

IMF the World Governing Council

. Raise-retirement-age-save-British-economy-IMF-warning-crippling-cost-pensions.html The Washington based IMF seems to have become the World Governing Council. Unelected and unaccountable, this bunch of faceless financiers have an opinion on practically every aspect of life throughout the world, and issue directives, suggestions, proposals, instructions or other measures like confetti. This time, "urging" Governments to tackle the problem of retirement age and pensions. It seems to me that a bigger problem and more sinister trend is the extent to which Governments of many nations, including our own, are far to eager to kowtow to this neocon organisation in Washington
