Who is on who's side in this chaos?

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/may/18/iraqi-militias-anbar-ramadi-isis#comments Iraqi militias head to Anbar after fall of provincial capital to Isis Iraqi militias head to Anbar after fall of provincial capita American airstrikes supporting Iranian backed militia, who are supporting Iraqi government forces, who are opposed to Iran, who supports Bashar Al-Assad in Syria, who is opposed by the United States who supports the Free Syrian Army, who opposes Bashar Al-Assad and the Islamic State, who are also opposed to Bashar Al-Assad and the Iraqi government, who incidentally are sending Iranian backed militia's with American air support, to fight the Islamic State fighters. Confused? So are they. The result of American, British and European foreign policy in the region over many decades.

The futility of one month of Saudi airstrikes.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/apr/21/saudi-arabia-airstrikes-yemen-military-campaign-end Saudi Arabia declares end to Yemen air strikes after four weeks of bombing People gather near the rubble of houses destroyed by Saudi air strikes   Saudi Arabia ends its month long air camapign. The net result has acheived nothing except the deaths of countless numbers of civilians and even more hostility towards the regime in Riyadh and the ruling family, both in Yemen and amongst the vast majority of Saudi Arabian people. The Saudi government and the royal family however have more than enough of the most up to date western supplied weaponary and aircraft to maintain control within their own borders and now have the addition of the American aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and the cruiser USS Normandy to bolster their defences against the perceived "threat" of Iran. The Yanks are comming! USS Theodore Roosevelt The paranoid mentality of ...

It is not just a conflict between Sunni and Shia.

In recent years, United States foreign policy in the region has compounded and amplified an already volatile environment and made the situation even worse. When drawing artificial borders to give effect to the Sykes-Picot Agreement of 1915/1916, the map makers did not understand, or completely ignored, all those factors which since the beginning of time, have been taken as the demarcation lines between countries. Borders have historically foll...

What and who is the real threat?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/05/15/exclusive-iran-pursues-ballistic-missile_n_5333887.html?utm_hp_ref=uk&ir=UK     Iran Pursues Ballistic Missile Work, U.N. Report Says     Iran pursues ballistic missile work     Why should Iran not build a missile system? A country which has never attacked any other country, is threatened by countries which have a history of attacking other nations. Iran was attacked by Iraq (Saddam Hussein) with substantial American military and economic support and encouragement, has for many years been threatened by Israel and other "western democracies", all of which posses huge arsenals of missiles and nuclear warheads. It seems that only "the west" and those cou ntries with regimes of whom the west approves, are permitted to have missiles, nuclear weapons, conventional armaments in any quantity, nuclear power or laboratories to research nuclear power or any other facilities co...

The duplicity of the "Western Powers" and Israels nuclear bomb.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jan/15/truth-israels-secret-nuclear-arsenal  Israel has been stealing nuclear secrets and covertly making bombs since the 1950s.    Israel has been stealing nuclear secrets and covertly making bombs since the 1950s. And western governments, including Britain and the US, turn a blind eye. But how can we expect Iran to curb its nuclear ambitions if the Israelis won't come clean?     Nuclear Reactor for Atomic Bombs in Dimona   "But how can we expect Iran to curb its nuclear ambitions if the Israelis won't come clean?" That quote says it all. The hypocrisy of the "Western Powers" (for that read United States and Great Britain), on any matter even remotely critical of Israel, is nauseating. The way in which a "blind eye" has been turned towards Israels nuclear development is repugnant enough, but coupled with open  assistance together with the covert cooperation given to Israel with the...

The "Friends of Syria" fail to agree.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/syria-crisis-london-meeting-fails-to-deliver-hope-of-breakthrough-8897289.html   Syria crisis: London meeting fails to deliver hope of breakthrough Assad will play no role in transition, says US, UK and Saudi Arabia   The "Friends of Syria" meeting in London yesterday, (Tuesday 22nd October) broke up without any agreement in respect of the way forward. In fact one of the "friends", Saudi Arabia, is threatening to withdraw from the group largely in respon se to the failure of the American dominated clique to take any form of military action against the Syrian government and to be rather reticent in their support of the rebel groups in terms of hardware and weapons. This reticence is understandable in so far as the "Friends of Syria" support only part of the opposition to President Assad and are still faced with the problem which they have faced since the start of the civil war. Democratic elections are only acceptable if the result is what the USA agrees with.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/aug/19/cia-admits-role-1953-iranian-coup CIA admits role in 1953 Iranian coup    "The military coup that overthrew Mosaddeq and his National Front cabinet was carried out under CIA direction as an act of US foreign policy, conceived and approved at the highest levels of government,"     Mohammad Mosaddeq democratically elected prime minister of Iran CIA admits to engineering the coup of 1953 in Iran and with British assistance. An admission to what everyone has known for years. The CIA has yet to admit to its role, with British help, of engineering the coup's in Guatemala 1954, Argentina 1966, Libya 1969, Chile 1973, Iraq, Afghanistan and a few hundred other places around the world. Their role in the Middle east will presumably be revealed and admitted to, in another sixty years.

When it comes to hypocrisy, the Friends of Syria Group have few equals.

http://www.aljazeera.com/news/middleeast/2013/06/2013622144844127498.html  Friends of Syria pledge to arm rebels   Friends of Syria meeting in Qatar The Friends of Syria group (which includes the United States, United Kingdom, France, Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc etc) agree to give "urgent military support" to Syrian rebels (who, under different circumstances, they would usually describe as terrorists) and at the same time they demand an immediate withdrawal of from Syria of "Hezbollah militias and fighters from Iran and Iraq". This is crass hypocrisy of the first order from western powers seeking long term advantage and favours from despotic Middle Eastern regimes who are not even wanted in their own countries where they rely on western weapons to retain their position. This is a bloody and awful civil war in Syria. The "Friends of Syria group" are making a bad situation even worse, the United States, Britain and France are pouri...

Sanctions hit the sick and elderly..

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jan/13/iran-lifesaving-drugs-international-sanctions   Hundreds of thousands of Iranians with serious illnesses have been put at imminent risk by the  consequences of international sanctions.   Iran unable to get life-saving drugs Sanctions imposed on Iran and instigated by Israel and the United states, are without doubt the greatest act of hypocrisy that the western world has indulged in for decades. Lacking proof or justification, Israel, who has never signed the non proliferation treaty despite having a significant arsenal of nuclear weapons, and the United States, which has a nuclear capability sufficient to destroy this planet hundreds of times over, are inflicting pain and hardships on the ordinary people of Iran, and the rest of the "International Community" is blindly joining in this barbaric infliction of collective punishment. The propaganda, dis information and blatant lies of Israel a...

Reaping the whirlwind.

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.440380919337034.90945.145097112198751&type=1 Anti American protest grows. There is a growing anti American mood sweeping through the Middle East, which will prompt the United States into re evaluating their relationships with new, less subservient regimes. There is anger in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya.  Clearly, the Americans are not surprised. Nor should they be. They have been sowing the wind for more than 80 years, and now they are beginning to reap the whirlwind.

A film, made to provoke.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/yemen/9542014/Turmoil-spreads-across-Muslim-world-over-controversial-Mohammed-film.html     It should come as no surprise to anyone that there are protests against this film and incidentally no surprise, that these protests will continue and spread. The Innocence Of Muslims, depicts Mohammed as a fraud and shows him having sex and calling for massacres. The makers, supporters and financiers of this film care nothing about the "Freedom of speech" argument. Their motive was to be provocative and to generate hostility amongst Muslims throughout the Middle east and perhaps elsewhere, which in turn would result in mass protest. Their other objective was to promote reaction in the west against such protests, and to encourage the growing hostility in many people towards Islam and its followers. In this, the film makers and supportive politicians, have been encouraged by a generally Islamophobic western media w...

Crossing the line.

The Daily Mail has just been deleted from my "news sources" list. This "newspaper" is today (12th September 2012), filled with more obnoxious, biased articles and associated comments from moronic "readers comments" contributors, than I have ever seen. Editing or failing to publish comments in order to promote the Proprietors political or personal view has long been part and parcel of the media circus and thus is an accepted part of debate on the issues of the day. However, when reporting of events becomes no more than a vehicle to promote and champion attacks on working people, or Trade Unions, or Disabled, or individuals then such a "newspaper" crosses the line between decency and obscenity. Today the Mail crossed that line. Another worrying feature of the Mail over recent months is the way in which articles have been so constructed, that an Israeli attack on Iran is not only justifiable but is also encouraged as a righte...

Laundering is not the only issue.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/british-bank-laundered-250bn-for-iran-regime-8010163.html Standard Chartered, one of Britain's most distinguished global banks, has been accused by US regulators of laundering $250bn from Iran and behaving like a "rogue institution", in the latest catastrophic blow to the international reputation of the City of London.   This issue is much wider than laundering $250bn from Iran, and it is not only restricted to American "persecution" of British banks. Whether we agree with the practice of sanctions against Iran or not, (and personally I do not as, in my view, it is the combined interests of Israel and the United States, dictating to the world, to further their own agenda's, but that is another debate),  the Banking "industry" seem to consider themselves to be above the law in their day to day business practices. There are numerous examples of sharp practice or even cri...

Romney seeking the Jewish American vote.

http://www.haaretz.com/news/diplomacy-defense/after-a-day-meeting-israel-s-leaders-romney-gives-speech-in-jerusalem-1.454386 After a day meeting Israel's leaders, Romney gives speech in Jerusalem  Romney's staff picked the 150 guests carefully. Religious American immigrants dominated the crowd; secular Jews and native-born Israelis were few and far between. Those present included Jewish-American millionaires, settler leaders like the former chairman of the Yesha Council of settlements Israel Harel, and former Netanyahu aides such as Dore Gold, Naftali Bennett, Ayelet Shaked and Yoaz Hendel. This was not a speech. It was a crass and blatant pitch for the Jewish American vote at the November election, in exchange for the promise of American support for Israel actions against Iran, Palestine and its people and anyone else who criticises or opposes Israeli aggression and barbarism. In other words, Romney said that Israel can do whatever it likes to anyone...

Another 45 minute warning?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2111307/Iran-trying-build-nuclear-missiles-capable-hitting-London-Cameron-warns-MPs.html The way in which British politicians lean over backwards to endorse the Washington Tel Aviv warmongering rhetoric in respect of Iran is nauseating. This time, Cameron uses the Blair technique of creating a non existent "threat" to create an illusion of "clear and present danger" of an attack on London. Presumably the "missiles" could arrive in 45 minutes. It has always been the tool of political systems seeking to control the population, to create an atmosphere of fear and concern among the people. Blair lied on Iraq, but many people believed him with tragic results. Cameron is now resorting to the same discredited tactics. Create a myth, repeat it often enough and people will accept it as truth. No Cameron. If you and Washington and or Tel Aviv are determined to attack Iran on non existent "evidence" you will do so...
