Has the Guardian become converted to the tolerance and compromise idea ?

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/sep/23/the-guardian-view-on-the-labour-leadership-wanted-tolerance-and-compromise The Guardian view on the Labour leadership.  Wanted: Tolerance and compromise. Editorial. I read this article twice. The first time, I thought that I had picked up a piece which had strayed into the pages of the Guardian, as if by accident from another newspaper. Only upon the second reading did I realise, with a growing sense of incredulity, that this was in fact a Guardian article and moreover, one written under the heading of, ""Editorial": The Guardian view on the Labour leadership: wanted – tolerance and compromise ". I found the "Editorial" to be a little puzzling, because here they are, calling for , "a collective effort to work together or even merely to coexist tolerantly, based on compromise and mutual respect" when, for the past 12 months or so, the Guardian has been in the v...

John McTernan and the Telegraph are so wrong. Again !

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09/08/owen-smith-wiped-the-floor-with-jeremy-corbyn-in-labours-questio/ Owen Smith wiped the floor with Jeremy Corbyn in Labour's Question Time debate. John McTernan How can this "political adviser" McTernan, be so wrong on so many issues? McTernan writing for the Telegraph again, says he was watching BBC's Question Time Labour leadership debate last night (8th September). Perhaps the headline to this Telegraph story and the content of the article itself, was the only text that the Telegraph would allow McTernan to put into print before paying him his fee. He was certainly not watching the same 60 minutes of debate that I watched and tellingly, his verdict on the proceedings is not reflected in the poll at the end of the article either. Certainly I and I suspect hundreds of thousands of other viewers, drew an entirely opposite conclusion from what we saw and heard during the exchanges. At the e...

As the Labour party descends into chaos, the Conservative government presses on with its plan to dismantle our NHS.

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2016/aug/26/nhs-plans-radical-cuts-to-fight-growing-deficit-in-health-budget NHS plans closures and radical cuts to combat growing deficit in health budget The conspirators of the Parliamentary Labour Party, now openly aided by elements of the National Executive Committee and Labour Party hierarchy, are determined to destroy the party and to stop the democratic process of the leadership election. A process which they themselves instigated when their first coup attempt failed, is now falling apart, as their "Stooge Candidate" Owen Smith, is exposed at every hustings debate, as a lightweight naive figure, only on the platform as a leadership contender, because no other member of the conspiratorial PLP had the backbone to challenge Corbyn themselves. Owen Smith: The lightweight and naive "Stooge Candidate"  The latest tactic, emanating this time from elements within the National Executive Committee of th...

Seeking to restore the "good old days" of Parliamentary Labour Party dominance.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/aug/22/corbyn-v-smith-labour-leader-voting-system-democratic-car-crash Corbyn v Smith for Labour's next leader, but being a winner is not enough.  Says Anne Perkins. Jeremy Corbyn and Owen Smith The Guardian continues on its compulsive campaign to undermine and remove Jeremy Corbyn from the Labour party leadership. In this self appointed role as the "Champion of the Parliamentary Labour Party", the Guardian will, and does, use any tool available to it or any argument, no matter how tenuous such argument may be, as the media mouthpiece for any disaffected MP with their own agenda, or for individuals who seek to erode support for the Corbyn leadership. The tool for tod ay’s assault is the "Opinion" section of the newspaper, where the editorial staff and the proprietor can shelter behind the shield of denial that the "Opinion" as printed is that of the writer, not necessarily of the paper. A v...

Sadiq Khan's sudden endorsement for Owen Smith, has a very hollow ring to it.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/aug/20/ditch-jeremy-corbyn-before-too-late-sadiq-khan-tells-labour Ditch Jeremy Corbyn before it’s too late, Sadiq Khan tells Labour London Mayor Sadiq Khan. According to Christina Patterson, I and the 600,000 odd other members of the Labour Party are "nutters". Patterson, is the "freelance journalist" with the constant sneering facial expression and intensely patronising attitude, often seen on the sofa in Sky News television studio, reviewing the papers. Not only are we "nutters", but we are also "mad", "insane" and "stupid" for being members of a party which, according to Patterson, is destined for political oblivion and is ensuring a "one party", (Conservative), State in this country for the foreseeable future. A party of full of "nutters" which incidentally has the largest membership of any political party in Europe, is dismissed as an irrelevance ...

The campaign to destabilise Corbyn is falling apart and the conspirators know it.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/aug/19/heidi-alexander-corbyn-resign-shadow-cabinet Why I had to leave Corbyn's dysfunctional shadow cabinet Heidi Alexander The Guardian sticking to its self appointed role as the "saviour of the Labour party", acting as the mouthpiece for any of the Parliamentary Labour Party prepared to spew out more bile in the campaign to oust Jeremy Corbyn. The conspirators anticipated that Corbyn would resign after the orchestrated mass resignations. They were wrong, he didn't. The plotters then moved to a vote of "No Confidence", fully expecting Corbyn to resign after 172 of the PLP supported the motion. Again, they were wrong as he did not resign. The final throw of their seditious scheming was to launch a Leadership Challenge, but as there was no one amongst the "Big Guns" of the PLP with enough backbone to take on the challenge themselves, they have found a "Stooge Candid...

It is not that simple even if Owen Smith is.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/aug/18/owen-smith-accuses-jeremy-corbyn-of-having-never-believed-in-the-eu Owen Smith accuses Jeremy Corbyn of 'having never believed' in the EU Whether Owen Smith likes it or not, the fact is that the British people, in a referendum on the 23rd June, delivered a vote to leave the European Union. To now constantly bang on about a second referendum or, even more naive, a General election on a one issue question, offers a simplistic sound bite to a complex question. Leaving the EU is not just a question of clearing the desk and leaving the building. Smith is fully aware of this and yet seeks to make personal capital wit h his simplistic, "we should have another referendum", an assertion which has now been repeated enough times to become a meaningless cliché. Much will depend on the terms negotiated between the United Kingdom and the EU (if such negotiations ever actually take place) in respect of the position which ...

Watson looks more ridiculous with every new "reds under the bed" claim.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/aug/14/documents-prove-far-left-planned-to-infiltrate-labour-says-tom-watson Tom Watson claims proof of far-left planning to infiltrate Labour Tom Watson The Guardian grasps yet another straw in the wind, attempting to breath some life into Watson's rapidly declining "reds under the bed" fear mongering smear. (see comment from marsCubed herein). With this continuing hysteria from Watson, aided and abetted by the media and particularly the Guardian, the whole proposition of widespread infiltration of the Labour party by "Trots", or "Militants", or "Entryists" or some other lurid description, becomes more laughable by the day. Every "new" almost daily allegation from Watson, makes him and his supporters, including the media, look more and more desperate and ridiculous.

A degree of hypocrisy as Smith accuses Government of ‘covering up’ privatisation in the NHS .

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/labour-leadership-candidate-owen-smith-accuses-government-of-covering-up-privatisation-in-the-nhs-a7190411.html Owen Smith accuses Government of ‘covering up’ privatisation in the NHS Owen Smith Owen Smith, "The Stooge Candidate" (because nobody in PLP had the backbone to take on Corbyn themselves), has had the veil lifted from his eyes and realises what many of us in the Labour Party have been saying for years. The Conservative government and the ConDem coalition before them, are destroying the NHS with their programmes of cuts, closures and piecemeal privatisation. The Blair government started the process with PFI and the Conservatives have accelerated this smashing  of a National Institution which they have despised since 1948. Strangely, Smith (who was never Shadow Health Minister; another of Smith's distortions of truth), must have been aware of this breakup of the NHS for sometime, as he was once working ...

Tom Watson is talking nonsense

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/aug/13/jeremy-corbyn-tom-watson-talking-nonsense Tom Watson is talking nonsense – and he knows it Sorry Tom, it is nonsense Tom Watson is in the last desperate throws of his attempt to remove Jeremy Corbyn as leader of the Labour party. Having now been exposed as one of the prime movers in the failed coup attempt and the conspiracy of June last, Watson resorts to the old and now discredited "reds under the bed" tactic, so popular with the Parliamentary Labour Party and those who support them, over many years. The philosophy of this contemptible, but still frequently used smear is that when they, the PLP, are loosing the arguments and see their position of power and influence in rapid decline, they resort to distorting the facts into a grotesque parody of reality, and then shouting very loudly that anyone who disagrees is a "Trot" or "Entryist" or "militant extremist" or some other description...

Tom Watson ‘peddling conspiracy theories’ but no credible proof.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/aug/10/tom-watson-sends-corbyn-proof-of-trotskyist-labour-infiltration Tom Watson sends Corbyn 'proof of Trotskyist Labour infiltration' Tom Watson has sent the Labour Party leader’s office a four-page document, based on publicly available information, but essentially comprising 30 year old pamphlets and selective quotes from books by Michael Crick, published 1n 1984 and 1985. If Watson is really genuine in his concern for the Labour party and "entryism" of forces from the extreme left, he should find more credible sources for his warnings rather than resort to the tactic, so popular with those on the right, of simply, ‘peddling conspiracy theories’ in the hope that some people may actually believe the smears. No. With his actions and Guardian (who else) interview of yesterday, Watson has finally thrown off the mask of the " honest broker" and confirmed suspicions held by some all along, that hi...

Shami Chakrabarti criticised for award but Tory donor give £2.5 million for a peerage.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/aug/05/new-peer-on-camerons-resignation-honours-list-gave-tories-25m New peer on Cameron's resignation honours list gave Tories £2.5m Keith Vaz Wes Streeting Tom Watson Yesterday, Tom Watson, Keith Vaz, Wes Streeting and others, were grabbing television interview time and inches of column space in the media, to proclaim hypocritical indignation at Shami Chakrabarti and her peerage nomination, when their real agenda was to have yet another swipe at Jeremy Corbyn. Shami Chakrabarti who has done much for human rights and civil liberties over the years, is criticised not because she has been nominated for a life peerage, but because the nomination was made by Jeremy Corbyn. Shami Chakrabarti Today, after examining David Cameron's Resignation Honours list, which takes cronyism to a new level even for Cameron, the news is revealed that at least one of ...
