Royal Mail to sack 1300 people.

http://news.sky.com/story/1231405/royal-mail-confirms-plans-to-axe-1300-jobs Royal Mail Confirms Plans To Axe 1,300 Jobs Royal Mail sorting staff The government sale of Royal Mail to their "friends" in the city for a give away price was predicted at the time to be bad for Royal Mail, bad for its customers and most importantly bad for the people employed by the organisation. Today's news that 1300 people are to be sacked comes as no surprise to those of us who have opposed the whole concept of privatisation for many years. The pillaging of Royal Mail is just the latest example of Tory plundering of public assets. The sacking of the 1300 will not be the last.

Egyptian show trials hand down first verdicts.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/mar/24/egypt-morsi-supporters-death-sentence   Egyptian court issues death sentences to 529 supporters of President Mohammed Morsi   Morsi supporters face anti-riot police officers in Cairo 529 death sentences, with  more to follow and culminating no doubt, with a death sentence for President Mohamed Morsi after his sham show trial. A despotic military dictatorship under the junta headed by Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, handing out "justice" to any and all opposition, following their coup of July 2013. A coup incidentally supported and encouraged by the United States, the "champion of freedom and democracy"  (albeit even to this day, the Americans refuse to acknowledge or accept that the events of last year were a coup), supported by the British government who invariably follow the American lead and enthusiastically endorsed by "Peace envoy"  Tony Blair with his comments of July 2013 immediately after the mili...

Chair of Royal College of GP's expresses "grave concerns for the sustainability of the NHS".

The parasitic friends of the Tory's have already devoured large parts of the NHS are are queuing like marauding hyena's  to scavenge at the remaing carcass. There has always been an intense resentment towards the NHS from within the Conservative party, and now it seems that they feel confident enough to disband the entire structure and revert to the health care and standards of ...

Ayrton Senna to be commemorated with a new photographic exhibition to mark the 20th anniversary of his death.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/art/features/ayrton-senna-photographs-commemorate-20th-anniversary-of-f1-legends-death-9171379.html Ayrton Senna photographs commemorate 20th anniversary of F1 legend's death It's going to be a season with lots of accidents and I'll risk saying that we'll be lucky if something really serious doesn't happen.   Ayrton Senna   Probably the worlds greatest F1 driver to date. Senna was killed in an accident during the San Marin Grand Prix at Imola on the 1st May 1994. He was 34 years old. It seems incredible that it is 20 years since I watched that race on television and those sad scenes of the Williams leaving the racing line and hitting the retaining wall, the crashed car and the medical personnel attending the accident. That weekend also saw Roland Ratzenberger, killed during qualifying the previous day and Rubens Barrichello, seriously injured in a separate accident. Ironically, it was at that eve...

Dorset Music Group snubs Bahrain F1 Grand Prix, Bernie Eccleston and the al-Khalifa regime

http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/11094006.VIDEO__Dorset_musical_group_snub_Grand_Prix_over_human_rights_concerns/ Dorset musical group snub Grand Prix over human rights concerns magic drum orchestra  A DORSET musical group has snubbed an invitation to play at a prestigious Formula One Grand Prix over concerns about human rights violations.   A big well done to The Magic Drum Orchestra, for taking a stand against the barbaric al-Khalifa regime and its excesses against the people of Bahrain. On Friday, 20 April 2012, I wrote in this Blog, under the heading of "CANCEL THE BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX " the following text, "Principle is more important that money. Ecclestone and the Bahrain Royal family grab the kudos, while the Bahrain security forces backed by the Saudi forces, continue to oppress and kill  protesters. CANCEL THE BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX " The oppression and civil rights abuses against the people and protestors in Bahrain continues unabated today...

La Mare Wine Estates do not only produce wines!

Waiting for the Postman.   La Mare Wine Estates   On the north coast of Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands, you will find La Mare Wine Estates. Popular with tourists and local alike, La Mare produces a range of products including wines, gin, vodka and brandy, chocolates and biscuits. The reason for drawing your attention to this establishment , is the result of a crisis which has arisen in our house in respect of marmalade. Or, to be more precise, the lack of marmalade. Not only does La Mare produce the products referred to previously, they also produce a comprehensive range of preserves. Black Butter (a Jersey specialty), Jam from raspberries, summer fruits, strawberries etc, mustard's and mint jelly are in abundance in the shop, together with of course marmalade, particularly my favourite, orange marmalade. I first discovered this, for me, breakfast essential, some years ago on one of our frequent visits to the island. As we invariably...
