"The Longest Day"
How on earth did that turkey make the list of "D-day landings on film: Hollywood's best second world war tributes"?
Wooden (and terrible) acting from a galaxy of stars (Richard Burton,John Wayne,Henry Fonda,Richard Todd,Curt Juegens,Kenneth Moore,Peter Lawford and many many more) who really should have know better than to accept roles in a badly scripted and pathcilly directed film, which was probably due to the fact that the film had a number of directors .
Historically accurate (mostly) even down to Brig. Gen. Norman Cota's (Robert Mithchum) famous, "There are two kinds of men on this beach" etc motivational encouragement to the American troops pinned down on Omaha beach, but "The Longest Day" can never be described as one of "Hollywood's best second world war D Day tributes".
