Priti Patel blames Jeremy Corbyn for the failure of government policy to control immigration.
Blaming
Jeremy Corbyn for everything descended to new depths of absurdity on
Question Time (BBC Television 10:45. 29th September) last night when
panellist Priti
Patel,
who was born in London
to
a Ugandan
Indian migrant
family, stated that immigration to this country is out of control
with vast
numbers of migrants arriving almost daily, placing an intolerable
burden on housing, jobs, social services and the infrastructure of
our society. The cause of this problem is, according to Patel, the
absolute failure of Jeremy Corbyn to control the numbers of migrants,
arriving in this country from Europe and additionally
as refugees from outside,
and the failure of his policies on immigration.
The problem will, according to Patel, deteriorate as Corbyn's policy
of allowing uncontrolled numbers of migrants unfolds over time,
allowing more and more people to arrive in this country as her
parents did in the 1960's, fleeing from persecution in Idi Amin's
Uganda. Priti Patel you may remember, made a great point of
criticising uncontrolled immigration and the disastrous effect that
this was having on the economy of the United Kingdom, during
the recent
Referendum
campaign where she was a prominent member of the "Brexit"
camp.
Question Time Chair, David Dimbleby |
The
great deficiency in Patel's
case against Jeremy Corbyn as she presented last night, was the
simple but momentous fact, a
fact that David Dimbleby and the rest of the panel,
(either by accident or design) failed to mention, is
that Jeremy Corbyn has been leader of the Labour Party for just over
12 months and consequently, as leader of the opposition, has and is,
not responsible for this or any other area of conservative government
policy.
Priti
Patel on the other hand, was elected as Member of Parliament for
Witham in 2010 and thus has been sitting on government benches
throughout
her parliamentary career. She would therefore share responsibility
for the failure of her conservative government to control immigration
to this country, a failure going back over at least the last 7 years.
Blaming
the Labour party generally and Jeremy Corbyn in particular, has
become the usual practice over recent years with media and television
leaning over backwards in their attempts to discredit the party and
the leader. However, the nonsense
disappears into
complete
farce
when
the factual content of the "criticism" is so glaringly
preposterous.
