Good morning everybody.
This
e-mail is brought to you from a very sunny St Aubin on the island of
jersey
We
rarely travel by air when we go to Jersey, but at this time of year
and with a restricted timetable on Condor Ferries, we settled for the
flying option when a window of opportunity suddenly arose to allow us
to get away for a few days. Flying, airport terminals and the
associated mini trauma of transfers is not a new experience for
either of us, but we were not rally prepared for the atrocious
conditions on the transport between terminal building and aircraft.

full story is in today’s “New Agenda on Sunday” or on the New
Agenda blog

Another
name to add to what seems to be an exceptionally long list of names
who have passed away during the course of this year.
Robert
Francis Vaughn (November 22, 1932 – November 11, 2016)
Napoleon Solo from U.N.C.L.E, Lee from Magnificent Seven, Albert Stroller from HUSTLE, and many other memorable roles. A talent who will be greatly missed. R I P

Yet another name this week.

When
I was a (very young) boy this was one of my fathers
favourite records, which he often played.

The
almost unfathomable vagaries of American politics, have produced
Donald Trump as the 45th
President of the United States. The
Democrats brought this nightmare upon themselves when the Clinton
machine and Clinton money, stitched up Bernie Sanders and terminated
his bid for the Whitehouse. Sanders was the only candidate who could
have beaten Trump but the Democrat/Clinton gerrymandering has
condemned the American people together with the rest of the world to
the horror of at least 4 years of President Trump.
Thanks
America or should we thank the Clintons? (Full story at

For Remembrance day.
For Remembrance day.
In
Flanders Fields
In
Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between
the crosses, row on row,
That
mark our place; and in the sky
The
larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce
heard amid the guns below.
We
are the Dead. Short days ago
We
lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved
and were loved, and now we lie,
In
Flanders fields.
Take
up our quarrel with the foe:
To
you from failing hands we throw
The
torch; be yours to hold it high.
If
ye break faith with us who die
We
shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In
Flanders fields.

John McCrae – 1915
No
weather forecast this week, except to say that Jersey (well St Aubin)
will be sunny and mild.
Have
a nice week.
Look
out for the blog which I am still writing under the title of “A
story of car hire”. You probably will not believe it, but if you
are in Jersey at any time soon, avoid Europcar and their bright red
Skoda Citigo.
