It should come as no surprise to anyone that the terms of the proposed Committee of Inquiry isn't robust enough. Nor should it be surprising that the debate scheduled for today has been postponed until February 19th.
The whole scandal of the Historic Child abuse investigation is littered with delay, ineptitude, attempts to cover up facts, discredit witnesses, victims and investigators and protect the perpetrators of the abuse and reluctance to pursue the matter with the determination it demands.
More delay and prevarication is only to be expected. The sinister question which refuses to go away and repeatedly emerges from the mists surrounding this matter, is "Why are the Jersey Authorities and establishment so averse to investigating the truth" It is as if there were events, people and institutions that they wish to keep secret and protect.
