About 30% of Nagasaki, including almost all the industrial district was destroyed by the bomb and nearly 74,000 were killed with a similar number injured.

Only one country has ever used nuclear weapons against the civilian population of another country. 



Nagasaki was the secondary target for August 9th, but Kokura, the primary target, had 70% cloud cover obscuring that city, prevented the planned attack.
