"Brian" arrived and has now passed into the North Sea. The storm did not, fortunately, cause as much wind damage and flooding coupled with the rain and Spring Tides as was intitally predicted but never the less did cause great inconvenience to many. Brian followed Hurricane Ophelia which lashed Ireland, killing at least three people and which I commented on last week. This is but the latest in the severe weather phenomena which seem to be occurring more frequently not only here, but around the world. Today, the sun is shining but is is very cold. The predictions are that this will give way to very warm air from the South during the week, with temperatures likely to be in the mid to high twenties. The man on the BBC weather forecast says that this is unprecedented for late October in the UK. Now all this raises the question, with me at least, whether this all is due to "Global Warming" creating weather extremes here and around the world.

However, Donald Trump has tweeted that Global Warming is a Chinese hoax, created "in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive", and more recently "It's a hoax. I mean, it's a money-making industry, OK? It's a hoax". Now there are of course, other "Climate change deniers" who perhaps stop short of claiming it to be a Chinese hoax, but Trump is the President of the United States, (the country which comes second on the list of countries producing the most carbon dioxide emissions), so we should believe everything he says. (shouldn't we?).

Image result for pmqs today

I have written on previous occasions about "Questions to the Prime Minister" or PMQ's as it is commonly known. The way in which the Chamber invariably conducts itself with interruptions from the Speaker with, "Order, Order" and the not infrequent admonishments to individual members for their behaviour or shouting, have often drawn comments from me that Wednesday PMQ's brings this House of Commons procedure into disrepute with members behaving more like very unruly children rather than adults who are responsible for the government of this country.
On Wednesday, (18th October 2017) however it was different.

Image result for May and Juncker agree to ACCELERATE talks amid negotiation deadlock

Why is Sky Television News, some "pundits" on BBC news and the usual suspects in the media, so euphoric about the "agreement to accelerate Brexit negotiations"?
Everyone knows that the "negotiations" are in chaos the whole question of Brexit is a complete mess and that the government are fractured as to where we are and more importantly, where we should be going. There is not even agreement as to what "accelerate the discussions" actually means in any case.

Image result for amber rudd cabinet split

Another day, another "cabinet split"as Amber Rudd says "No deal Brexit is unthinkable". Within minutes of this revelation, television news is reporting that there is a "cabinet split" on the question of capping tuition fees! There is no end to this madness. For how much longer must this country endure a fractured and leaderless government?

Daily Express front page

A final passing comment on the Express (who else) who are predicting in very excitable terms that 11 (yes eleven) more "Wild Storms" will ravage Britain "before the end of winter". This is coupled with another cause for concern reported in their "story", that " A COLOSSAL plume of freezing air will sweep down from the Arctic and in from eastern Europe THIS WEEK engulfing Britain in sub-zero temperatures until SPRING". Who ever it is that writes these Express stories seems to have a different brand of "ACME seaweed prediction kit", from everybody else.(Keep your thermals handy, just in case)

Have a nice week

Enough of this hysterical nonsense

http://style.uk.msn.com/royal-baby/how-will-the-royal-baby-look-as-he-grows-up Media generated hysteria.                           This is too much. For the last 36 hours (thought it seems more like 36 days) there has been wall to wall news coverage, media and television comment and reporting, with Sky News taking first prize for frenzied minute by minute reporting from the Palace, the hospital, from a village somewhere in England, from the studio and anywhere else that Burley, Botting and company could stick a microphone into some obscure "celebrity's" face and ask for yet another banal quote. All this galvanising the mass hysteria of some elements of the public, (who the media would have you believe is the reaction of "the whole world",) with their flag waving, dancing, singing and cheering over what is after all, no more than a woman having a bab...

New Agenda on Sunday is out Sunday, Apr. 28, 2019

https://paper.li/f-1346065353#/ Good morning everyone. Last weeks scare regarding Megan and Harry being sent to live "somewhere in Africa" seems to have been dispelled, at least for the time being. It now seems that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take up residence in California.  Unless  they are actually  doing  some proper work in "The Golden State", I hope that they are taken off the civil list so that we do not have to fund their life choice. The nauseating Daily Mail is at it again. A headline this week, which I will not even bother to reproduce here, screams out in disgusting and repulsive bias without any acknowledgement to the factual basis of their "story". Spewing out their usual smears and embellished distortions about Hamas, the IRA, Hezbollah and the rest, the Mail condemns itself with ample justification, for the closure of a "newspaper," which again abuses 10 fold, the privilege of "freedom of t...

A perverse and rather sinister media obsession to discredit, smear and undermine Jeremy Corbyn

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/venezuela-jeremy-corbyn-blasted-for-not-condemning-president-maduro-a3606156.html#commentsDiv Venezuela: Jeremy Corbyn blasted for not condemning socialist President Nicolas Maduro as violent conflict escalates There is a perverse and rather sinister obsesseion with the media and particularly television "interveiwers", in seeking to secure from Jeremy Corbyn a "condemnation" of some person or organisation or event. This time it is connected with events in Venezuela and the actions of President Nicolas Maduro and the bloody crackdown on protests against the result of last weeks poll which inaugurated a constituent assembly . The media "stories" and the interrogation by the television interviewers, are as subtle as a sledgehammer being nothing more than a variation on the "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" question, which so many repoters use in order for them to make themselves appear very ...
