The euphoria of some of our media.

May and Juncker agree to ACCELERATE talks amid negotiation deadlock

Image result for May and Juncker agree to ACCELERATE talks amid negotiation deadlock

Why is Sky Television News, some "pundits" on BBC news and the usual suspects in the media, so euphoric about the "agreement to accelerate Brexit negotiations"?
Everyone knows that the "negotiations" are in chaos the whole question of Brexit is a complete mess and that the government are fractured as to where we are and more importantly, where we should be going. There is not even agreement as to what "accelerate the discusions" actually means in any case.
Rather than hailing Theresa May's meeting last night (over dinner of course) as a victory for the Prime Minister's diplomacy, this jaundiced corner of the British media should be more concerned as to how we can extricate ourselves from this chaotic mess and achieve a settlement which is in the best interest of people and business generally. It certainly will not be achieved with Theresa May at the helm and David Davis leading the negotiations.

Northern Ireland and Brexit. The return of "The Troubles"

Northern Ireland: police attacked in another night of disturbances | Northern Ireland | The Guardian When the "Brexit" debate was still filling our newspapers and our television screens, readers may remember why I had changed my mind since voting to leave at the referendum vote. Apart from the economic arguments, which had become crystal clear after peeling away all the lies and misrepresentations trotted out by Bozo Boris and his "Get Brexit Done" conspirators, there was always the problem of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Would it be possible to have a border between the European Union and the United Kingdom where people, goods and services could pass freely between the two nations without customs restrictions, tariffs, duties and all the other formalities? Would it be possible to have one part of the United Kingdom treated differently from other parts of the United Kingdom, particularly when Scotland for example had voted overwhe...

The writing on the wall

There will be many people over the coming months and years who will tell the "pollsters" that something should be done about the homeless, or the costs of electric, gas and water, or about the costs of public transport, or the failing (and privatised) NHS, or the excessive profits and tax avoidance of large corporations. etc. To all those I say, that if you did not vote Labour then you have only yourselves to blame and you must bear the consequences of your actions. Johnson a nd his sycophant cronies have been given a blank cheque to do as they please and sell off vast portions of the British economy to the Americans, (the takeover of British defence giant Cobham by a US private equi...

A mess entirely of the Conservative government's own making.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/jeremy-corbyn-theresa-may-brexit-without-delay-a7399101.html May must set out Brexit plan 'without delay’ Before the referendum there was always a belief that the result would be debated in Parliament. What completely threw this government was that no one expected the result and Cameron had no plan for the possibility that that the people would vote leave. Theresa May is now faced with a referendum result, (a referendum which of course is "advisory") which she believes might be overturned by Parliament. In order to appease some elements of her party and other vested interests, she has chosen to use "Royal Prerogative" to pass the necessary legislation to trigger Article 50 without debate in Parliament. I believe that she is wrong and that the High Court judges are absolutely correct. I also believe that it would be a very brave or very foolish MP who would completely igno...
