The not very well hidden agenda

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/mar/28/labour-mps-attending-antisemitism-protest-targeted-for-deselection-corbyn-lammy Labour leader sorry for pain caused by 'pockets' of anti-semitism.  There is clearly an "agenda" behind the current spate of media fuelled hysteria in connection with "anti semitism in the Labour party". It is acknowledged that there are a small number of individuals within the party who behave in a manner which can be described as anti semitic, but the leadership generally and Jeremy Corbyn in particular, have roundly condemned such behaviour and the culprits can be under no illusions as to the fact that antisemitism and racism in any form has no place within the Labour party. Corbyn has on numerous occasions, apologised for such behaviour within the party and condemned in unequivocal terms, antisemitism and racism in all its forms. However, this has done nothing to assuage the torrents of abuse, criticism ...

New Agenda on Sunday. is out! Edition of 25th March 2018

https://paper.li/f-1346065353#/ Good morning everyone Sanity has returned. The Clocks have gone forward by one hour, and now I am back to normal. The twice yearly nonsense of tampering with time is a complete farce which serves no useful purpose and which causes only distress and irritation for many (including me). In my case, the period between October when they go back, and March when they revert to "proper" time is purgatory with disrupted sleep patterns and moody intervals which can last for days. It is not "normal" to arbitrarily interfere with time, (except perhaps in times of war) and should be abandoned. Note to those who are responsible for such things: Now leave the bloody clocks alone!!! The concept of "Collective Responsibility", both in cabinet and Shadow cabinet is an integral part of British politics. Owen Smith is aware of this and yet proceeded to publish his article in the Guardian, fully aware of the Labour party position ...

Collective responsibility results in sacking for Owen Smith.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/mar/23/owen-smith-sacked-from-labour-party-frontbench Owen Smith sacked from Labour party frontbench The concept of "Collective Responsibility", both in cabinet and Shadow cabinet is an integral part of British politics. Owen Smith is aware of this and yet proceeded to publish his article in the Guardian, fully aware of the Labour party position on the question of a Second referendum and the position of the remainder of the Shadow Cabinet. Consequently, neither he, nor anybody else should be surprised that he has been sacked from his position. He, and everybody else, knows that the principled course would have been to resign his post, return to the backbenches and argue his views from there. However, Smith chose to remain in Shadow cabinet presumably to challenge the leader to dismiss him, thus causing maximum embarrassment to the party. It is both annoying and infuriating when sections of the media and others, rea...

Basingstoke needs homes, not another 90-bedroom hotel and a drive-thru fast food restaurant

http://www.basingstokegazette.co.uk/news/16105076.Developer_seeks_to_change_stadium_into_homes_and_a_hotel/ Developer seeks to change Camrose Stadium into homes, hotel and drive through restaurant   As a former resident of Kelvin Hill, it appears to me that this scheme, apart from the housing is not a very good idea. Unless the geography of the area has changed significantly since I lived there, the thought of a 90-bedroom hotel and a drive-thru fast food restaurant on that site seems completely inappropriate with adequate similar alternatives being reasonably close by. As for the housing proposals, provided that plans include a significant amount of social housing and a balance of low cost affordable homes, an additional 90 new homes would be very welcome.

The "Nasties" are now in control.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-hr-mcmaster-national-security-adviser-john-bolton-white-house-a8269566.html Trump replaces national security adviser HR McMaster with John Bolton. The nastiest of the neocon nasties, returns to the Whitehouse. With Trump as Commander in Chief and this deranged psychopath as National "Security" adviser a war with another country (they have no preference as to which one), or "Regime Change" somewhere in the world (again, no preference), has moved significantly closer. The lunatics have now taken over the asylum.

A return to the bad old days of "reviewing tomorrows papers".

Sky Television Newspaper Preview. Anna Botting of Sky Television News was really on form last night (22 March), during the Newspaper Preview section at 10:30. She had clearly taken a large dose of the "Vitriol" medication as she reverted to the Anna Botting which we have not seen for some time. She has obviously now fully recovered from the mauling she received from George Galloway on live television some years ago, and now feels confident enough to implement the Sky policy of pushing the editorial instructions regardles s of relevance or fact. Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and Ian Dunt were the unfortunate recipients of Botting's almost hysterical tirade as they reeled under a constant barrage of shouting and interruptions from the other side of the table. This was the Botting of old as her usual tactic of talking over and shouting down the "reviewers" completely dominated the half hour segment. leaving very little room for contributions fr...

Crass and puerile comparison from Boris Johnson

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/mar/21/boris-johnson-compares-russian-world-cup-to-hitlers-1936-olympics Boris Johnson Compares World Cup In Russia To Hitler Hosting The Olympics Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson, is well known for his gaffs, errors of judgement, ill considered remarks, jingoistic sabre rattling and his burning ambition to lead the Conservative party. Amongst all the fatuous comments issuing from this self opinionated buffoon, the comparison to Hitler and the 1936 Olympics, rates with the most despicable of his warped observations. People in other parties and organisations have been pilloried and persecuted for saying less, but Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson seems somehow immune to criticism from the media or elsewhere. Johnson and others, should remember that around 26 million Russians, both civilian and military, were killed fighting Hitler and his Nazi's between 1941 and 1945. To compare Russia hosting the World Cup to Germany...

New Agenda on Sunday. is out! Edition of 18th March 2018

https://paper.li/f-1346065353#/ Good morning everyone Swing Low, Sweet Chariot. England 15 points Ireland 24 points. Congratulations to Ireland who took their third Grand Slam title to add to the 2018 Six Nations Championship and the Tripple Crown. Ireland were too good for England in every aspect of the game and with snow swirling around Twickenham, ran out comfortable  and worthy winners. For England this was the third defeat in a row and finished the competition in 5th place in the Six Nations Standings only ahead of Italy. Surely this must be the end for a number of players who must now make room for players with skill, passion and discipline to get back into winning ways. We must get back to the drawing board as there is little time left before the summer tours and the World Cup is getting closer. Meanwhile, back in Jersey, More and more shops close in St Helier as "footfall" in the town decreases significantly. At the same time, la...

Media bias and propaganda to create a myth.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/russian-spy-jeremy-corbyn-theresa-may-foreign-service-diplomatic-cuts-uk-power-russia-a8255501.html Jeremy Corbyn says 'the evidence points towards Russia'. I am becoming increasingly concerned and incensed by the distorted, prejudiced and mischievous reporting of the attempted assassination of Sergei Skripal generally, and the media generated "rebellion" within the Labour party in particular. Leaving aside the scurrilous feature concerning Jeremy Corbyn on the "BBC Newsnight" programme, which reduced the BBC and the programme to the levels of the gutter press with its photoshopped images and extreme bias, there is a sinister trend in media reporting which has exceeded the limits of acceptability. It is abundantly clear that the "political crisis" within the Labour party exists only in the pages of the usual suspects of the National papers, the television News Channels, a few di...
