Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.
England 15 points Ireland 24 points.
Congratulations to Ireland who took their third Grand Slam title to add to the 2018 Six Nations Championship and the Tripple Crown. Ireland were too good for England in every aspect of the game and with snow swirling around Twickenham, ran out comfortable and worthy winners.
For England this was the third defeat in a row and finished the competition in 5th place in the Six Nations Standings only ahead of Italy. Surely this must be the end for a number of players who must now make room for players with skill, passion and discipline to get back into winning ways.
We must get back to the drawing board as there is little time left before the summer tours and the World Cup is getting closer.

Meanwhile, back in Jersey,More and more shops close in St Helier as "footfall" in the town decreases significantly. At the same time, landlords of empty retail outlets still demand the premium rent levels which is a contributory factor to shops closing.
Greed overriding economic reality?

Occasionally, local Councils and other bodies come up with "policies", which are absurd, illogical and bordering on puerile.
It is announced that Poole Council has reviewed its decision of February to put this measure "on hold" and now intends to implement the plan to fine rough sleepers, beggars and other "undesirable elements" £100 to eliminate the problem of "behaviour likely to cause nuisance". Now I am the first to admit that there are some individuals who abuse this problem and cause nuisance, but the vast majority of homeless rough sleepers and beggars are in that position through no fault of their own and deserve more consideration than to be demonised and abused by the local authority.
In any case, are we really expected to believe that genuine beggars and rough sleepers will have a spare £100 in their pockets or a convenient cash card to visit the "hole in the wall"
and draw the necessary cash to pay the hovering official? Presumably being unable to pay will result in yet another £100 fine "for non payment" eventually leading to a prison term for perpetual non payment of fines.
This is a ludicrous and absurd "policy" proposed by a Council which has little understanding of the problem and even less common sense to recognise the stupidity of their proposals.

The one thing I despise, perhaps above all else, is hypocrisy. The has been hypocrisy by the bucket load, pouring out of this government and from a number of MP's (and from the usual suspects in the media) for days and yesterday (Monday 12th) witnessed the the disgraceful howling at the leader of the opposition, when he raised the question of donations to the Conservative party as part of a response to Theresa May's pathetic statement concerning the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury and the alleged involvement of Russia in the attempted murder.

Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble, things that go bump in the night, has never really been my thing. Requiem BBC Television Friday, ended this week. Running over 6 episodes, it was one of those programmes which I watch in the hope that next week episode and its content will be better. Alas, this was not the case with Requiem and I was left with a distinct feeling that the total 6 hours had been a complete waste of my time.
Worryingly, the final shots showed only 5 graves and Matilda had a very sinister smile on her face. It seems that there are enough loose ends for a Requiem 2 some time next year. Perhaps the writers, producers, cast, production team and the BBC will do us all a favour and make a re run of Jackanory instead.

Last week I said "It is raining today, has winter finally departed?" Today, it is snowing heavily as the "Beast from the East" has returned for another bite of the cherry. What on earth is going on?

Have a nice week

Enough of this hysterical nonsense

http://style.uk.msn.com/royal-baby/how-will-the-royal-baby-look-as-he-grows-up Media generated hysteria.                           This is too much. For the last 36 hours (thought it seems more like 36 days) there has been wall to wall news coverage, media and television comment and reporting, with Sky News taking first prize for frenzied minute by minute reporting from the Palace, the hospital, from a village somewhere in England, from the studio and anywhere else that Burley, Botting and company could stick a microphone into some obscure "celebrity's" face and ask for yet another banal quote. All this galvanising the mass hysteria of some elements of the public, (who the media would have you believe is the reaction of "the whole world",) with their flag waving, dancing, singing and cheering over what is after all, no more than a woman having a bab...

https://paper.li/f-1346065353#/ Good morning everyone. Last weeks scare regarding Megan and Harry being sent to live "somewhere in Africa" seems to have been dispelled, at least for the time being. It now seems that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take up residence in California.  Unless  they are actually  doing  some proper work in "The Golden State", I hope that they are taken off the civil list so that we do not have to fund their life choice. The nauseating Daily Mail is at it again. A headline this week, which I will not even bother to reproduce here, screams out in disgusting and repulsive bias without any acknowledgement to the factual basis of their "story". Spewing out their usual smears and embellished distortions about Hamas, the IRA, Hezbollah and the rest, the Mail condemns itself with ample justification, for the closure of a "newspaper," which again abuses 10 fold, the privilege of "freedom of t...

A perverse and rather sinister media obsession to discredit, smear and undermine Jeremy Corbyn

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/venezuela-jeremy-corbyn-blasted-for-not-condemning-president-maduro-a3606156.html#commentsDiv Venezuela: Jeremy Corbyn blasted for not condemning socialist President Nicolas Maduro as violent conflict escalates There is a perverse and rather sinister obsesseion with the media and particularly television "interveiwers", in seeking to secure from Jeremy Corbyn a "condemnation" of some person or organisation or event. This time it is connected with events in Venezuela and the actions of President Nicolas Maduro and the bloody crackdown on protests against the result of last weeks poll which inaugurated a constituent assembly . The media "stories" and the interrogation by the television interviewers, are as subtle as a sledgehammer being nothing more than a variation on the "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" question, which so many repoters use in order for them to make themselves appear very ...
