Hypocrisy by the bucket load
The one thing I despise, perhaps above all else, is hypocrisy. The has been hypocrisy by the bucket load, pouring out of this government and from a number of MP's (and from the usual suspects in the media) for days and yesterday witnessed the the disgraceful howling at the leader of the opposition, when he raised the question of donations to the Conservative party as part of a response to Theresa May's pathetic statement concerning the poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury and the alleged involvement of Russia in the attempted murder. I say "alleged" because even now we do not have any real evidence of a direct link to Putin or any Russian State agency. The lack of evidence however has not prevented Boris Johnson, Philip Hammond and others including Prime Minister May herself, from leaping up with the usual but empty threats of inflicting all sorts of mayhem and punishment on the Russians with Dominic Rabb stating this morning that "The Prime Minister is absolutely right" and adding that "all options are on the table". Presumably this Bully Boy and former whip, now Minister of State for Housing and Planning and still Bully boy Raab, presumably threatens some sort of military escapade to "punish the Russians". Johnson, Raab, May and the others, have plenty of hot air and rhetoric to hide their obvious impotence.
No matter which way they squirm, the fact remains that the Conservatives take money from Russian oligarchs in London and elsewhere, at this time known to be at least £820,000 while justifying these "donations" as legitimate money. Threatening Russia with all sorts of retribution for a crime whilst at the same time taking money from Russians via the back door, is by any measure hypocrisy at its most vile. To criticise and encourage criticism of those who highlight and expose this shameless acceptance of tainted cash, is both hypocritical and snide.
Those who indulged in the howling and barracking during yesterday's Commons statement should look to their own motivations and feel shame at their hypocrisy.
