Downing Street has denounced “trial by Twitter” and a “silly stunt” by the ITV presenter Phillip Schofield
Philip Schofield flashes a list of alleged paedophiles |
Schofield may have been silly and misguided, or even mischievous, but the response has been rather illuminating. The sound of Tory party members and MP's rushing around slamming doors as they close ranks is almost deafening. It seems that there are certain elements, perhaps not restricted to the Conservative party, who are frantically trying to find some "straw to grab" with which to divert attention away from the real issues and to create a spurious argument around a "witch hunt" scenario. Schofield, it seems may have inadvertently provided those wishing to conceal the truth, with a brief opportunity to cloud the involvement of establishment figures in child abuse and the subsequent cover up. The build up, on the internet, in the media, government departments and by other bodies calling for independent inquiries and even an all embracing inquiry to draw together all elements of this scandal, will eventually reveal the true facts and those involved at levels of society. A smokescreen will not be sufficient to hide the guilty indefinitely.
