"Engine problems force Liberation out of service."There is only one word missing from this headline. That word is "Again". Surely the islanders must be very fed up with this constant failure of Condor to provide a reliable service between the mainland and the islands. What is it that allows this farce to continue with monotonous regularity each year?

May 9th is Victory Day in Russia marking the day that Nazi Germany finally surrendered in 1945. In Moscow, it is the largest of all the parades scheduled to be held in Russia and many former republics of the Soviet Union on this national holiday, with fireworks and other celebrations throughout the day. What is noticeably however, was the absence of many Western leaders or representatives from countries who were part of the victory over the Nazi regime. This could be considered by many to be a huge snub to the nation which played a significant part in the allied victory and in the sacrifices of men women and children who died in that conflict. It should be remembered that Russia played a considerable part in the allied war effort between 1941 and 1945. It should also be remembered that Russia lost 12 million military dead and more than 15 million civilian dead during the same period, in fact more civilian and military dead than any other nation involved in the conflict. It is sad indeed that the United Kingdom and the United States closely followed by France can ignore the part played by the other great nation in the allied cause. It is also sad that these countries can acknowledge with memorials, plaques and other remembrance activities, the deaths inflicted by the Nazi's on civilian populations of other occupied countries and the same time fail to be cognizant of 15 million civilian dead in Russia not to mention the 12 million military dead. The rift between former allies is clearly demonstrated and the hypocrisy of western nations in regard to recognition of the role and sacrifice of Russia between 1941 and 1945 has never been so clearly shown.

The birth of another Royal baby, Archie Hamilton Mountbatten-Windsor, lead to celebrations everywhere. Amongst the popping champagne corks, the waving flags, the tinfoil balloons, there was much celebration and joy on the streets of Windsor and other places around the country. These are the same people however who will, on their way home, or within the next few weeks or months, pass a shop doorway or other place, where someone is wrapped in a blanket or newspaper and is sleeping rough again. These are the same people who will not even notice the scandal of homeless rough sleepers on our streets and will pass by without even acknowledging the affront to our society. These are the same people who will quaff their champagne and snacks enjoying the vicarious elation surrounding another royal birth. These are the same people who should read this item and feel a sense of shame at their jubilation. However, the probability of them reading this is very small and the probability of them having any sense of shame in regard to their excesses is even less.

May should reveal her departure date next week, Brady says.Yawn, Yawn, Yawn. This will she wont she saga from the Tories and in particular from 1922 Committee Chair Sir Graham Brady, has become over recent months, about as exciting as watching paint dry. Everyone knows that the lies and hypocrisy are nothing more than cynical tactics, to drum up sympathy for May and at the same time to push the "May Brexit deal," through the house of Commons. Please Brady, spare us the fatigue of continued rhetoric on May's resignation timetable and, to borrow a phrase so popular in Conservative pomposity, just"get on with the job".

Summer is coming at last.

Have a nice week

Enough of this hysterical nonsense

http://style.uk.msn.com/royal-baby/how-will-the-royal-baby-look-as-he-grows-up Media generated hysteria.                           This is too much. For the last 36 hours (thought it seems more like 36 days) there has been wall to wall news coverage, media and television comment and reporting, with Sky News taking first prize for frenzied minute by minute reporting from the Palace, the hospital, from a village somewhere in England, from the studio and anywhere else that Burley, Botting and company could stick a microphone into some obscure "celebrity's" face and ask for yet another banal quote. All this galvanising the mass hysteria of some elements of the public, (who the media would have you believe is the reaction of "the whole world",) with their flag waving, dancing, singing and cheering over what is after all, no more than a woman having a bab...

https://paper.li/f-1346065353#/ Good morning everyone. Last weeks scare regarding Megan and Harry being sent to live "somewhere in Africa" seems to have been dispelled, at least for the time being. It now seems that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take up residence in California.  Unless  they are actually  doing  some proper work in "The Golden State", I hope that they are taken off the civil list so that we do not have to fund their life choice. The nauseating Daily Mail is at it again. A headline this week, which I will not even bother to reproduce here, screams out in disgusting and repulsive bias without any acknowledgement to the factual basis of their "story". Spewing out their usual smears and embellished distortions about Hamas, the IRA, Hezbollah and the rest, the Mail condemns itself with ample justification, for the closure of a "newspaper," which again abuses 10 fold, the privilege of "freedom of t...

A perverse and rather sinister media obsession to discredit, smear and undermine Jeremy Corbyn

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/venezuela-jeremy-corbyn-blasted-for-not-condemning-president-maduro-a3606156.html#commentsDiv Venezuela: Jeremy Corbyn blasted for not condemning socialist President Nicolas Maduro as violent conflict escalates There is a perverse and rather sinister obsesseion with the media and particularly television "interveiwers", in seeking to secure from Jeremy Corbyn a "condemnation" of some person or organisation or event. This time it is connected with events in Venezuela and the actions of President Nicolas Maduro and the bloody crackdown on protests against the result of last weeks poll which inaugurated a constituent assembly . The media "stories" and the interrogation by the television interviewers, are as subtle as a sledgehammer being nothing more than a variation on the "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" question, which so many repoters use in order for them to make themselves appear very ...
