Labour really suffered BIGGEST defeat in elections.
Labour should have gained seats at the local elections. As it happens we had a net loss of 82 seats but gained 6 councils. Not a very good night for our party. However the conservatives had a loss of 1334 seats and also lost control of 44 councils.
Now somehow or other, many parts of the media have managed to interpret these results as a "massive drubbing for Labour", and "Labour really suffered the biggest defeat in the elections. It never eases to amaze me that our media can be so warped and biased in their "spin making" manage to turn a disastrous night for the Conservatives into a terrible performance by Labour.
Yes labour lost 82 seats and gained only 6 Councils, but by any measure losing, 1334 seat and losing control of 44 councils, which incidentally is the worst result for the Conservative Party in 25 years, would be yet another nail in the coffin of the party leader.
